Guest guest
Not all grey hair is pretty. Some people (and they are usually natural brunettes) will get silvery white hair rather than that mottled salt and pepper wiry grey. It can be pretty, but, IMO, any grey hair makes a person look older. Coloring the grey always (and I repeat ALWAYS) takes years off someone's face. Grey or white hair drains the complexion of color because it lacks any warm pigment. When you add some warmth (reddish tones, warm browns or golden blonde) it revitalizes the appearance of your skin. I would look terrible with grey hair so I color it. Gloria
Guest guest
I read something about a copper deficiency somewhere and can't find that info again. Interesting. Grey hair might be pretty but it is just another symptom of an underlying something. Becky I read recipes the same way I read science fiction. I get to the end and I think, "Well, that's not going to happen."
Guest guest
I sprout at least one more every time I let myself get too stressed about something. I think greying hair is part diet, part heredity, and part stress. I once met a woman who had long totally grey hair. She said it happened when she had a very stressful event in her life and it literally turned grey overnight. She was 22 and I thought she was in her forties. Guest guest
I guess we all have our limits, or priorities. As an RN and holistic healthcare consultant, I recommend that everyone get rid of all chemicals in their environment, and on their bodies. I have done so, myself, and use all natural personal care products. The only thing I can't give up, is hair coloring. I just don't like the grey. I am not hypocritical about it, and freely tell that I color my hair. That is just he one area I can't change. Guest guest
Yes, I do probably look a little washed out, but I would rather have the grey than chemicals on my head. Too close to my brain and I've done enough chemicals internally (I'm a product of the '60s!) to damage my brain!! My daughter is 20 and the other day she made the comment "you know, you and dad's skin seems to glow. But Aunt Judy and Uncle Troy look grey". If a kid notices something like that, then I don't care if my hair is platinum! Besides I don't work with the mainstream public and most of my work is done on the phone. Who cares what color my hair is, I'm not my hair. Shari

It's just a decision I made and do it. I'm not trying to fool anyone about my age (including myself). I just look and feel better without the grey and see nothing wrong with looking my best. People have been coloring their hair for centuries...maybe since the beginning of time? ;-). Gloria
Guest guest
> Yes, I do probably look a little washed out, but I would rather > have the grey than chemicals on my head. Yes, the folks on list who color their hair should sit down and read the list of chemicals that are in hair dye and the chemicals that are in any makeup product for that matter. Everything that you inhale (artificial fragrances), ingest, and absorb has to eventually be processed by your liver and kidney. What the liver and kidney can not identify to eliminate they will recirculate until it finds a home in your fat. Loose the lipids in your fat cells (adipose tissue looses lipids when you loose weight that is fat. You never loose the fats cells themself. They just become empty of lipids.) and those toxins are released back into your circulating system. Penel

If I live as long as my grandmother, and I just might if I pay attention well enough, my life is only a tiny bit half over. Here's the thing of it, since when is being older not sexy or beautiful? 2 year ago my grey haired head and I toured Italy. For some reason both the Italians and the American tourists fell all over themselves trying to speak French to me. Grey haired, make-upless me in my early 50s they assumed was a carefree French woman of means. What a lark! I think its all in the way one carries oneself. Guest guest
I am a big fan of Kombucha Fermented tea. A few years ago, I gave a mushroom to a friend of my sister and after a couple of months of drinking the tea, her hair started coming in dark at the roots. A lot of claims are made for the mushroom but I believe that it does help some people in perhaps different ways. Here is a link to info on the mushroom. It is not necessary for anyone to spend lots of money on a starter mushroom or culture. Those that have the mushroom will usually be willing to send you one for just the cost of postage. I have several mushrooms in my fridge but they are old. I am planning to make the tea today and see if the mushroom is still OK. It is a very yummy drink and not too difficult to make. I can send the receipe to anyone interested. Guest guest
I know, I am rationalizing. Barb..I don't see you as rationalizing as much as defending yourself. No one lives a totally perfect life and you shouldn't expect that of yourself. I eat well, but color my hair and love chocolate. People at work laugh at me for this seeming contradiction, but they also know I eat really well and don't have a microwave. LOL!. If you color your hair, don't feel apologetic or guilty. Your lifestyle is still better than 99% of the population! Gloria

Guest guest
I let her thoughts about aging and beauty cloud my thinking. Remarks from other people can be hard to deal with unless you're very very secure with having grey hair. I know a 50-something teacher who always colored her hair and she did look younger than she actually is. She decided to stop coloring it and let her hair go it's natural grey. She said one day she was at a parent-student meeting and overheard one of her students saying something about her and the mother remarking "Oh, honey, be nice to her, afterall she's an old woman". She later laughed and told me that she had never heard anyone refer to her as an "old woman" when she colored her hair and it did have an impact on her. Guest guest
I was feeling really good about my gray hair. I was very pleased with the way I was greying. The friend I shopped with yesterday hasn't seen me since the first of January and I was just starting to let my natural color shine through back then. She told me yesterday that she didn't like it because it made me look older. I asked, " older than what? " She told me if I colored my hair I could look so much younger. I knew I would feel some pressure from society to look younger but didn't expect it from my friend and told her that. Then again, she is the image that you see on the cover of the Cosmo-type magazines so she's probably living with her own social pressures. What made me angry was that after she said that I started to feel old and as though I wanted to color my hair again -- I let her thoughts about aging and beauty cloud my thinking. --- In health , MorningGlory113@a... wrote: > > > > I know, I am rationalizing. > > Barb..I don't see you as rationalizing as much as defending yourself. Guest guest
There was an article in our paper yesterday “Most cosmetics go untested – should require safety labels” – and it listed some of the most cancer-causing products. One was hair dye – it said it contains coal tar which has been linked to bladder cancer and lymphoma. Do you really want to take that chance? But again that is because of nutritional status inherited upon conception. > Does drinking wheatgrass reverse hair from turning grey? Does eating certain food help? ==>I don't believe wheatgrass by itself reverses hair turning grey. What helps the most is proper minerals, but because all nutrients work together that would also include the entire diet and supplements recommended. I don't believe any one thing can reverse grey hair. My hair is turning dark again, but I've been on a much improved diet, similar to the one I recommend for candida, for about 3 years now. It does take a lot of time and consistency to turn around nutritional status. At my age I believe it can take a lot longer than someone much younger, and depending upon their inherited nutritional status. Bee >
