Guest guest
Hi Margaret, I personally would not use it being that there were plastic pieces in there. I've done worse so don't feel bad. I have not made the super tonic yet but would think to peel what needs to be peeled and leave the peppers as is with the seeds. I am sure you will get better advice. Have a beautiful and blessed day! Toni Good morning everyone,I got up this morning and decided to make the Complete Tonic. I had the ingredients and the gloves to work with the peppers (not habaneros). I took the Vitamix container and put the cleaned and cut up ingredients in then pured in the ACV. I reached for the lid and put it on but could not find the stopper. I decided to go ahead and covered the whole with a lid. Everything was fine until I heard a racket and everything stopped moving in the blender. I poured it into the gallon jar and low and behold I found the stopper. It had been chewed up some but could still be used. My question is. Do I need to start all over or can I use it? I know that I will have to strain the mash out in a few weeks but will the plastic pieces affect the product during that time? If I have to start over can I strain and use the ACV? I used about 1/2 gallon.Oh, another question. Do you take the seeds out of the peppers when you make this and peel every thing else? I was doing this and began to wonder if I was doing it right.Thank you for your advice.Margaret R. in IL
Guest guest
I can't tell you to strain it and use it as I don't know how fine the plastic shredded pieces... If you let it all sit to "ferment' the plastic will too... if you strain it all now you may still have some slivers of plastic... I hate to say it but if it were me I'd start over.... When I make it... I scrub my ginger root and cut it up and throw it in... I don't peel it. same with horseradish... scrub it - you don't have to peel it. Habs.. I use seeds and all.. just cut it in half and throw it in.. I do peel my onions... and sort of chop them up Garlic.. if in the blender I throw the cloves in whole... if not I slice them.Toni <tone102@...> wrote: Hi Margaret, I personally would not use it being that there were plastic pieces in there. I don't know what type of plastic the Vitamix uses but it can't be good for the body. You might be able to strain the ACV through some muslin or somesuch small weave cloth, that will catch all the plastic. Otherwise, best would be to pitch that too and begin anew. You can remove the seeds but if you do then you will be removing the best part of the pepper. You will remove the capsacin, the hot stuff that is needed for this Rx.. As for peeling, I don't peel anything but the onion and garlic. The rest I just scrub really well and toss in.
