Guest guest
Hi, I also have FMS, sleep apnea/other sleep problems and other goodies. I know I had it long ago and was actually diagnosed with it over 7 years ago. I was at my worst 7 yrs ago. I couldn't lay, sit, stand anything. I had gotten to where I couldn't even function daily. I had been a very (extrememly) organized person that kept her house spotless. I couldn't even think of where to put the mail. I couldn't work. I couldn't sleep more than an hour at a time and never deep sleep. I walked, but it was v e r y s l o w l y and it took forever to get a half mile in. I am VERY happy to say that most of it is going away now. I still have the aches and pains, but not the depression, no coping mechanisms, migraines,IBS and others. My <mystery> pain is for the most part gone. My tumors still grow and burst, again a mystery to me and the Dr's. My last job I worked 15 hour days 6-7 days a week. It was killing me. Fast food city for the past 6years minimum. I left that job in July, have a desk job now (although changing from that in the near future), don't hardly eat any fast food and am eating salads every chance I get. I can't sleep more than 4 hours at a time unless I take prescription sleep aids and even then only rarely sleep more than 5 hours. However, I am sleeping harder during those 4-5 hours. Deep sleep is extremely important to people and even more so with these problems we have. You need to figure out how to get DEEP SLEEP and let your body rejuvinate and heal itself. I'm also trying to get in lots of Olive Oil. OO is very good for inflammation, which is a HUGE part of FMS and (obviously) Arthritis. I do notice that I have always had a problem with inflammation. I hate taking prescription meds so only do in emergency situations or trying something new and only then long enough to see if it will work. If not, I quit. I am not on ANY (PTL) medications at this time and have been off for about a year. I have more energy now than I have had for 7 years. I walk my dog(s), work outside the home and work my dog training business the rest of the hours. My dog helped me quite a bit with getting better. Do you have a pet? I know how hard it is to walk when you feel like you do right now, I have been there!! Depression is a huge part of all of this. I refused to go on Prozak or similar, not that it is wrong, but I knew that it wasn't <depression> that was getting me, it was a <side> effect of the FMS, etc... I also started an FMS list at groups where I have a few friends and we chat amongst ourselves and tell each other when something works and so forth. Not a medical list, just a friendly list. I believe that helps to have the support of friends. I drink very little alcohol (a few drinks every 6 mo or so...) and am lessening my intake of meat products which is VERY hard for me becuase I need the meat! (physically and mentally)I doubt I will every become totally meat free but I will get it only rarely eating meat. I cannot take supplements as they only make me nauseus (sp?). So.... use what you can. Each of us are totally different and you have to figure out what works for you. It has taken me a long time (25 yrs or so) to get to this point. I used to have more energy than the Energizer Bunny and am working on getting back to that point in my life now. I wish you well (literally) and if you wanna talk write me privately with FMS in the subject line. Otherwise I delete. DON'T let the depression (again, a side effect of the FMS,CFS,Arthritis) Lack of sleep will cause depression.
