Perhaps her blood sugar is high enough that she's not thinking clearly. Or perhaps she is concerned but is also good at acting as if she's not. > but worried enough to wonder why it shot up.. she usually runs > about the high 300's.. i know it is higher then the norm for > most people... Yeah, high 300s is way way higher than normal for most people. Because high 300s is what your friend normally has does not mean its normal for her to have it that high. Unless your friend gets her blood sugar down to an acceptable level and keeps it there she stands to have big time adventures with cardiovascular issues and vision (blindness) to name just 2 the many. > so i told her to drink a juice with celery and an apple...was i > wrong?? i was told that this is good to keep sugars down/// A fruit juice without the fiber in it is probably mostly carbohydrate with nothing to slow it down. Lipids and proteins also slow down the carbohydrates from going directly into the blood too fast. Can this be accomplished with a juice? I haven't a clue. Ask your friend if her dr. has suggested a support group and offer to accompany her to its meetings. Its good that you're being a friend to her but she really needs to take responsiblity for her own health. Going to a support group with her would be a way of showing her you respect her and trust her to be able to do that. Penel
