I was switched to Methlyprednislone <--ms (this is only 4 mg instead of 5mg) I was getting BAD hot flashes, and I was switched to this. I was fine for about 3 weeks, then they started again. I was dropped to just 1 a day. This has helped, but I am getting pain a little more severe. I guess it is better than almost passing out 2 to 3 times a week :-)
Guest guest
Hi Tara, What wonderful news.I hope and pray things stay the same. It is a differant era for kids with arthritis. There is promise and hope that complete control is acheivable. The treatment and logic behind treatment has expanded sooo much over the last few years. Unfortunately not all ped rheumies feel comfortable prescribing drugs that are new,yet show very promising results. Guest guest
Hi Tara, So very happy for both of you! The corticosteroids are amazing medicines that can truly work wonders but with the possible dangers and consequences, it's best that their use is limited. My son got steroids intravenously while he was hospitalized for his initial flare of systemic JRA. He was in for 2 weeks and before we left, as soon as the IV's came out, we got our first prescriptions ~ prednisone, MTX, and an NSAID. We fully expected that he'd take the steroids for just a few weeks or months, at most. Until the MTX kicked in and we could get his symptoms controlled. I never expected it would take nine years to finally be done with them! These days, the majority of children won't have quite as difficult a time as was more common in the past. It's a whole new era, with new medications being developed at an incredible pace and a better understanding about the pros and cons of the medicines that have been being used up to this point. I am so happy that Enbrel was available for and that she's been having such a good response to it. Aloha, Georgina tara2002amanda wrote: > Hello all! Guest guest
Georgina- Thank you so much for the words of wisdom. I to am thrilled has been able to take the Enbrel so quickly. I still am stressing out about her positive ds dna blood test and say a prayer every night that it will be negative next week when we get her blood drawn. Her doctor err's on the side of caution since he did have a patient develop Lupus from the Enbrel. I am very lucky to have such a proactive doctor for . We went for a 2nd opinion and the doc. said " I don't even test for ds dna anymore, most doctors dont anymore, such a small portion of the Enbrel test group test pos. and an even smaller group develops Lupus " . Well god for bid that could be ! She did test positive and he wouldn't have even done the test. I thank god every day for her Rhumy and am very lucky to live 2 hours near one! I hope that is doing well and continuing on the right path! Tara and 2 (poly) Re: Pred. Hi Tara, So very happy for both of you!
