Guest guest
General Diet"The obvious choice is not necessarily the best one" stands here. You might think, osteoperosis...calcium...drink lots of milk. However, there are drawbacks to this; milk and other dairy produce tends to be fatty and mucus producing, they also contain high concentrations of protein and if you ingest too much protein it actually causes your body to lose calcium! So, try instead to eat nuts and seeds, fruit and veggies. Some of the best ones are: broccoli (remember your Mum insisting you always eat all your broccoli? Now you know why!), figs, yummy sesame seeds, and tofu. HorsetailThis herb helps you to supplement the calcium in your body, Get a bottle of it in tincture form and take a couple of drops in water two times a day. SunbathingI think you're all going to like this remedy! Vitamin D is very important to keeping healthy bones, and a deficiency has been known to help cause serious problems like osteoperosis. The good news is that the sun's golden rays encourage the body to produce it's own Vitamin D - so get sunbathing! (NB: Please remember to use a good sunscreen, and never sunbathe in the noonday sun.) BTW, carrots are also a good source of vitamin D... crunch, crunch, what's up doc? (sorry, couldn't resist *grin*). NettlesThe much maligned stinging nettle, despite those wretched itchy stings on your legs, is a very effective herb for osteoperosis because it contains silica. Try getting a nettle tea and drinking a couple of cups a days. Suzi What is a weed?
