Guest guest
The other reason I don't drink milk, is all the extra crap they put in it. The answer to that is RAW milk and other dairy products from cows that are pastured on grass and fed hay in the winter instead of grains. There are dairy farmers out there that are totally aware of the problems with anti-biotics and hormones in feed, etc. It is possible to get this healthy milk on a program called cow shares. I prefer RAW goat's milk, where the goat herd is also handled with care and concern. If I am unable to get RAW milk, I don't drink any milk at all...the pasturization process and bad feeding and management is responsible for the bad rap that dairy gets. I also only use RAW butter ($9.00 per pound)..I try to buy French cheese which is suppose to be from RAW milk, however, there are dairies in the US now that make cheese from RAW milk. Some people have emotional issues with dairy products or any animal products. That is fine with me and it is every one's choice. Guest guest
The answer to that is RAW milk and other dairy products from cows that are pastured on grass and fed hay in the winter instead of grains. The farm where I get my raw dairy has 2 labels on the bottles..."Grass Fed" and also "For Pet Consumpton Only". The reason for the Pet Consumption label is because legally she cannot sell raw dairy for human consumption (although her own family eats and drinks her dairy and so does anyone else who buys from her farm). Here in PA, you can't buy raw dairy in stores. I just take a jug to her and she fills it up from that morning's milking. She makes the yogurt a couple times a week and keeps it in a small ANCIENT refrigerator in the barn. In the nicer weather, you can see the cows out grazing all day and the chickens running around loose in the sunshine really sucking up all that Vitamin D. It shows in the eggs which are huge with bright yellow/golden yolks. Gloria
Guest guest
Well, at least you have a source! Even when I'm up north, Kimberton is a hike for me. Luckily, I have a girlfriend who lives about 1/4 mile away from the store and every time we're going to get together for dinner she brings me milk.<G> Sharyn... The farm I go to is awesome (not to mention close-by). I take a jug and she fills it up from that morning's milking. It's very grass roots. I was never a milk drinker but I can polish this stuff off in no time flat. I want to go to Kimberton one of these days. Isn't it off Rt.29 or somewhere like that?? Do you know how much they charge for a gallon of raw milk? I pay $3.00 a gallon. Gloria
