I wish we had a juice bar around... none in the area... guess the midwest is behind the times...

PS another reason I have a juicer.Shari Viger <shavig@...> wrote:

Just remember that what you are getting in a bottle has been pasturized. After Odwalla had e-coli I doubt there is a good raw, fresh juice out there.

Do you have a juice bar any where near you? I have purchased massive amounts of produce and taken it in to a juice bar in our co-op and they will juice it for me at a minimal price. Then I store it in 8 ounce jars, filled all the way to the top (to keep air out) and store in the refrigerator. However, (isn't that always the way?) juices should never be more than 3 days old when consumed. Not that they will make you sick, but the nutrients are gone. Orange juice loses 90% of it's vitamin C within 20 minutes of juicing!

Up in Chicago, all the Whole Foods I've been in have juice bars. The

sad part of that chain is that when they move into a neighborhood they usually

put the

small mom and pop health food stores out of business.

They are an easy source of organic produce however.

I've found that some of the better Mexican restaurants have juicers.

If carrot juice is on the menu ask if they make their own juice fresh.

A couple times I was dragged off to the kitchen so the chef could

show off his pride and joy juicer to me.
