Guest guest
Here are some sites I have found informative. #1 site is the actual social security/disability website. http://www.ssa.gov/disability/ When you get there, go down the middle to " social security's definition of disability. When you reach that screen ,scroll down on the left side, click on " calculator " to see an estimate of your benifit amount. This site has alot of answers to many questions, so explore! #2 This site is for fibro & CFS,but has very good articles.First I will give you a really good article, by an attorney, that I read and found useful. Then I will give you the article index that has many more articles. http://www.immunesupport.com/library/showarticle.cfm?ID=3900 wrote this and others, he is a disability attorney. http://www.immunesupport.com/disability/articles.cfm?cat=disability This is the index I talked about. I thought it would be helpful, especially since many members here have multiple health problems. Also, some one asked about age and disability. I'm not sure if it was here, or another forum where I read a post where a lady received disability the first time she applied. Age makes a difference, as this lady was disscussing that she was in her 50's. I believe it's a question of whether you could be rehabilitated to a new line of work. I have a neighbor who's applied for disability. He is getting some type of help from them, temporarily. He will have joint replacement surgery and then they told him that he will be " retrained " to do a different line of work. Which I think is great for people whom, like myself, have been doing heavy manual labor. I know that it depends on the extent of your PA, as I have been doing strictly office work lately and there are days I could sleep all day,if my back(or my kids ) would let me! I think it depends on what you really have in mind and what your needs are. Anyhow I hope this helps!! --Merribeth
