Not a clue.

Eastcoast American Indian tribes use maple sap as a spring tonic.

I intend to use it as the sweetener for my spring made cough syrups.

That makes sense to me. Honey bees are struggling to make it

through the winter about now but the Qi is flowing good time in the

trees.

When illness first hits a healthy body it is usually acute. One's

body is still healthy enough to try to fight it off.

If the unhealthy practice that is producing the illness is carried on

long enough the body can't carry on the fight that hard and still

survive. What it does then is dull down the stuggle.

The adventure turns from acute to chronic.

If you stop assaulting the body with an unhealthy lifestyle, a

healing crisis might happen as the body regains the strength to fight.

Each disorder that the body thought it was just going to have to live

with, might be approached with new vigor.

Just as one illness is resolved and the body has the health to deal

with it, another one that was " shelved " into chronic stage gets

brought back into focus to be addressed.

A good example of this is when someone quits smoking.

They might have had a chronic cough while smoking but after they

quit, it seems like they have a 2 to 9 month long cold.

That's their body regaining strength enough to fight the pollutants

they'd put into their lungs while smoking.

Some times its quite dramatic. They spit up all sorts of black gunk.

When they were smoking the black gunk was getting put into their

lungs but the body wasn't healthy enough to get rid of it and not

kill itself in the process.

(Cough hard enough in a deficient state and you can break a rib or

break off a bit of the lung.)

Once on a healthy lifestyle plan chances are, each health problem

that presents itself might have been things that were an acute

problem for you for a period in your past that had just settled into

a dull chronic.

If you had lots of problems you probably didn't even notice where

the symptoms of one ended and the symptoms of another started.

Getting healthy can be like peeling the skins off an onion.

I've been told that alcoholics can pretty much count on feeling

lousy for anywhere from 2 months to 2 years as their body

relearns how to maintain homeostasis.

A " healing crisis " is not to be confused with making oneself even

sicker by insisting on some health method that works for others

but is all wrong for one's own constitution.
