Guest guest
As I was reading your post I said to myself sounds like she has Lupus and was glad when I got to the end that you have been tested for that. That is what I thought I had for years until I had nail changes typical of psoriasis and we decided I had PA. My arthritis is not really typical for that, if any ever is, but I guess that is the best explanation. I really wonder how the docs tell all these things apart. As long as you are getting appropriate treatment it really doesn’t matter what they call it. Make sure to get tested for lupus every once in a while though. Cheers Anne :} [ ] Eyes - Adie's Tonic Pupil?? There has been a lot of discussion about eye problems associated with PA and PA drugs. I have only ever taken Celebrex (in the past) and Viouxx (currently) for my PA. I have scalp psoriasis as well and it is easily controlled with a prescription of Cyclocort. I also have a bleeding disorder called ITP (Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura), which is an immune disorder in which your body attacks your own platelets resulting in clotting problems. For this I take Cyklokapron (only as needed when bleeding occurs), which is used to make your platelets more sticky so they work better. A few years ago while at a visit to an eye doctor he suspected Adie's tonic pupil and ran some tests. Sure enough - I had that too!!! It was explained to me that it was a condition that developed after a series of inflamation episodes permanently damages to the optic nerve, so that now one pupil responds slowly to light, frequently spasming either open or closed. They ran several tests to try to determine the source of the inflamtion, but were never able to pinpoint it. I have the problems you would expect with this, changing between light and dark. If I come in from a bright sunny day to a dimly lit room, it takes me quite a while to get good vision inside, and visa versa, and bright lights generally make my eyes and head ache. Does anyone else here have any of these combinations of problems? I feel like writing a book, " 101 Stupid Things That Are Wrong With Me " . I certainly don't mean to make light of these conditions, as there are so many who suffer far worse than I do. I have been lucky enough to be able to control my conditions with minimal drugs and have more good days than bad. I am very thankful for that, specially after visiting these sites and seeing how other people are managing. I am 29 years old, and the ITP started at 16, Tendonitis at 21 (they say it was likely the onset of the PA as it was also the time I started suffering from extreme dandruff that was so itchy at times it drove me crazy!!!), the Adie's at 26 and the PA at 27, and at 28 they finally said it wasn't serious dandruff but scalp psoriasis. A whole lot of minor problems turned up over that time frame as well - migraines, heart palpitations, kidney scarring (also from inflamtion), etc. I guess I have always belived that it must be one problem causing the whole lot. I'm just waiting to hear what it is!!! Anyone have any ideas? or similar experiences? Roni PS: I have been tested for SLE (Lupus) serveral times over the years but to date have only met 3 of the criteria and 4 are required to diagnose. ------------------------------------------------ Join Excite! - http://www.excite.com The most personalized portal on the Web!
