Thanks for sharing that Tracey.

Which brings me to yet another question . . . does eating raw

eliminate the need for deodorant (in time)? I've been thinking the

last few days about the saying " you are what you eat " and assume that

also means " you smell like what you eat. " So if you remove all the

junk food, processed food, etc. from your eating plan do you then

reduce the OFFENSIVE body odors that I feel are given off by the

processed foods we eat?

Hi Donna,

You bet. The reason we have B.O. to begin with is due to bacteria

cleaning up a toxic environment, our skin. Eating inappropriate foods

does tend to make ones body a toxic environment. This is a great hey day

for bacteria hunters and whatnot. They can attribute all the dis-eases

to bacteria, viruses and fungi when in reality the dis-ease started from

diet. Bacteria, fungi and viruses are just natures trash collectors.

They are there to help dispose of toxins and excess mucus from our

bodies. When you cleanse internally as well as externally, you get rid

of these toxins and excess mucus. Hence you will have no B.O.

It is correct that you will smell like what you eat. Any wild carnivore

will perceive a moderate to heavy meat eater as a threat. They have a

wonderful sense of smell. All wild animals can smell a human coming from

a mile off, unless said human is a true raw foodist with a thoroughly

cleansed body. Remove all junk food, processed food, meats, dairy and

most all cooked foods and you will remove the source of odor. A person

who cleanses regularly and eats a raw food diet can eat garlic all day

long and you will not smell it on them, with the exception of maybe

their breath.

Meat is high in purines. These translate into uric acid inside the body.

We all know what urea smells like. Your body will smell of it too. Eat

raw food and cleanse and you will find it hard to be around people who

eat meat. You can smell it on them even though they pay proper attention

to external hygiene.

Deodorants are big business. Never use an anti-perspirant as they will

clog up the pores under your arms and this can lead to all kinds of

problems especially for women. We perspire or sweat for several reasons.

Two being heat regulation and elimination of toxins.

Guess I gave you more than you asked for. ;-)

I agree with what Don said but feel compelled to add more. What we

put ON our bodies is a problem as well. If you think ointments work,

have you ever thought of the residual chemicals left by laundry soap

and fabric softeners?

I've mentioned before that I do Asian bodywork therapy. My clients

wear their clothing.

Its better if they wear clothing in fact. It helps them pay more

attention to what is going on with their Qi.

After a session my futon sheets and hands stink from the chemicals

they wear in their clothing.

If they wear clothing that is made of unnatural fibers (polyester,

nylon) their bodies sweat like crazy compounding the matter.

I ask all my clients to wear loose comfortable natural fibers but

you'd be amazed by how many people the suggestion just

doesn't register. Women wearing panyhose under their knit

pants is the worst!

Imagine this.

The client comes in for a session and they can't get out of those

silly conversations in their head so they can relax. What to do?

Easy. After assessing the Qi balance I start the session at the

acupuncture points on their feet.

Their focus goes down to the pleasure there. After about 10

minutes they stop babbling because they think they're in heaven

and I can start shiatsu on the rest of their body.

About 10 minutes before the session is over I like to finish off the

session at the client's neck and head. Not only do I do acupressure

there for " beauty treatment " but it also helps the client come back

into their brain so they don't walk into walls and can drive home.

Imagine that with hands that reek of laundry products and stinky feet.

A part of my assessment process is based on smells. Various

imbalances by Taoist 5 Element theory have their own scents. When

folks come in wearing sweat incouraging clothing made of synthetics

bathed in stink pretty laundry products I just kick the ceiling fan on

and hope my other techniques of assessment are accurate.

Its worse than when they pass gas (and everybody passes gas. It just

happens).

Rant over ;-)

> Clean the colon and you will have no body odors.

Everyone has body odours. Its very unusual to be able to smell

oneself as others smell us. Our odours are a part of us.

Taoists have a 5 Element assessment system.

Wood; rancid

Fire; scorched

Earth; sweet

Metal; rotten

Water; putrid

Diabetics? think Earth imbalance.

Bi-polar? sometimes scorched, sometimes putrid. It depends.

The skin of angry people (Wood imbalance) smells rancid.

One needs a good sniffer to determine which smell is what. You know

how they say dogs can smell fear? Fear is a Water imbalance.

Fear smells putrid.

A good book that covers this subject is " Traditional Acupuncture; the

law of the five elements " by Dianne Connelly.
