Memory Loss?

Hello -

I'm still relatively new to this (4 weeks).

Is memory loss associated with PA or methotrexate? I'm having

terrible lapses of memory. It could be that I'm so worried about

having this that there's no room for anything else in my brain's RAM

(that's supposed to be funny). Just wondered if anyone else

experiences that.

Methotrexate made me feel really fuzzy minded. I could not even follow

directions on a map. I was on MTX for about 2 months and had to go off because

I could not tolerate the side effects. Once I got off of that medication my

thinking went back to normal.

I do agree with 's note too. I know on the days I am the most pain my

memory is the worst but the MTX just added to the problem for me. Some people

just can not tolerate it. I ended up with terrible sores on my face and in my

mouth and breathing problems - all went away after I stopped MTX. I also

started to run a temperature that went on for 6 weeks before I was diagnosed

with Mono. I was on MTX for about 3 weeks before the temp started and then is

was several weeks after that I was dx'd with Mono. That was the second time in

my life I had Mono. I guess you are only suppose to be able to get Mono once in

a lifetime but that was not the case for me. I was tested both times with

positive results. I am not sure if the MTX caused it but I did read some

abstracts that said the MTX can trigger the EBS virus which it what causes Mono.

It seems to be a little more than a coincidence to me.......

Lee Ann-

You give me so much to look forward to (LOL)! Teaching in a high

school -- am around lots of germs (take that any way you want!).

About the memory loss -- I had wondered too, if it was just a

byproduct of stress / depression. I go from 'at least I'm happy that

I know what this is " to " this really stinks. " -- sometimes in the

same nanosecond.

Thanks for your responses --

I am sorry. Hopefully I am not the normal case! Teaching around a lot of germs

--funny!

It would be wonderful if we had something we knew was 100% effective AND 100%

safe but we do not....Maybe we will someday.

My memory loss is frightening. You know the experience we all have

where you go to do something and when you are physically there, the

reason why is gone? Well I'm down to just getting out of a chair, or

turning around and it's gone. I don't even know why I got up. I keep

telling my co-workers that it's a good thing I work in mental health

because I'm well on my way to Alzheimer's. I think when they start

handing out the Aricept (dementia med), I'm getting in line twice...

hopefully when I get around to being served, I'll remember why I got in

line!!! :)

another factor in mental disfunction is related to inflammatory

cytokines. Just like when you have the flu, the activation of the

immune system makes mental functions more difficult.

Inflammation makes thinking more difficult

I have so many things wrong with me that can cause memory loss, depression

and fatigue I wouldn't know what was causing it. I have Cirrohsis of the

Liver, on treatment for Severe Depression & Anxiety, suffer body aches.

Haven't got a PA diagnosis yet, my appt is July 2, I was diag. with Psoriasis

I've learned to apologize to people alot for being a flake, and I no longer

work because no one could count on me. I make alot of lists and do the best

I can :)

Peace/Love

+++Hi . No, it isn't true. It takes awhile for the body to

switch over from running mostly on carbs/glucose to running on good

fats which provides ketones. Some organs in the body prefer ketones,

particularly the heart and brain. On a high " good " fat diet the body's

glucose requirements will lower considerably.

However, any glucose requirements are easily fulfilled with proteins

and fat since 58% of protein and 10% of " good " fats can change into

glucose inside the body.

Have a great Holiday!
