Guest guest
High white blood count (14,000+) showed up in first visit to rheumatologist in 1989 (before I had ever even heard of prednisone, much less taken it--from 1994 through 2000 and again this year since April I have taken prednisone, and it has elevated my white blood count to 16,000+). I was suspected of having Lupus due to positive ANA and one other positive blood test found in lupus patients -- diagnosis not conclusive: collagen being attacked by my own bodies antigens, or is it antibodies? By 1989 I was experiecing arthritis symptoms and peeling feet (4 dermatologists diagnosed as athlete's feet, but medication never worked). In 1994 I changed primary physicians and she referred me to yet another dermatologist who immediately suspected psoriasis, took a biopsy and confirmed psoriasis. This time the prescribed medication (topical) gave me relief and I could wear closed shoes once again. When psoriasis reported to rheumatologist, diagnosis given of psoriatic arthritis and have been treated for it ever since. Still maintain high white blood count -- my mother had lupus and my father had psoriasis, so in my mind because Mom always had high white blood count--so I assume must be some connection there. My rheumatologist shared in 1994 that he had long suspected instances of " mixed autoimmune disease. " So, hope I have provided some food for thought, as well as reassurance that PA and high white blood count can and do co-exist. in VA [ ] Re: High white blood count anybody > Hi Janice, > Are you, by any chance, taking prednisone or any other steroids?
