using dried herbs generally will prevent rancidity ...in tinctures I find I can use either as long as I don't have any moisure (like dew etc) ... on oils I prefer dry... I tried fresh once and the oil turned rancid.. salves, I've done both.. someone else may have more thoughts on this.

Hi Suzi,

Hope you and your family are well. Everytime I am going to ask a question, I say it will be my last dumb one...lol

So here is another one :) I am assuming that the herbs and flowers and such in all these recipes are dried. Is there any instance when fresh are used?

Is there any rule of thumb that says dried for this and maybe fresh for that?

You know I always appeciate all the info

Thankyou

Toni

Lavender Vinegar Hair Rinse

Fill a one-quart jar 1/2 full with lavender leaves and flowers. Top with white vinegar; seal with a plastic lid, or place plastic wrap over the jar first before closing lid. Place in a dark place, such as a cupboard for 3-4 weeks. Mix one part lavender vinegar to one part distilled water and use to rinse hair after shampooing.

Yes... it is just the oils I've had problems with

But I'm thinking you can use fresh lavender as it is being preserved in the vinegar, right?
