Most people consume far too many enzyme-deficient foods (cooked, stored, processed, and preserved) and far too few enzyme-rich foods (fresh, raw). Their digestive and metabolic enzymes become depleted and the immune system is overworked. Taking plant-based enzyme supplements with healthful meals can alleviate strain on internal organs, supply additional nutrients, and help to restore balance to the body's enzyme levels. When taken in between meals, enzyme supplementation can result in even faster metabolic enzyme restoration, antiviral activity (proteolytic enzymes digest cell walls of virus and other infectious agents), and free radical scavenging > > If I'm eating out or somewhere I always take an enzyme and an IC#1 with me to take at the meal. > > Suzi > Suzi, I would still be on the Purple Pill, Nexium, if it weren't for the enzymes. In order to get GERD under control, I took the enzymes after the meal, DGL about 20 minutes before and the acidophalus between meals. I did this regularly for quite some time, but now only take them when I feel like I need them. Taking each one of them according to my needs. When I am in a position that I ate someone elses cooking or ate something of my own that I made for company that I don't normally eat, like a burger, fatty foods, or pizza or whatever, I take the enzymes. Some times if I feel acid coming up, I chew a DGL tablet and let it melt and ease down the esophagus, and maybe some Acidophalus. I think these three items have actually saved my life as my GRD was really bad, nearly to the point of asfixiating me at times because of the acid forcing up into my sinus and into my bronchials or trachia and one cannot breath with that acid there. The acid and fumes from it can be extremely stressful. As long as I eat the things i wrote about earlier, my stomach is fine! It has been like a miracle!
