Yes I am taking it for that. I have also tried many other ones but I have a rather rare reaction to them......I react the opposite to what I am supposed to...remeron was the worst as I was a zombie on that when I was awake(slept more than being awake though). The paxil is the first one I have been on where I have felt this close to normal and I don't sleep half the day away. I can actually function and it is a very low dose. I think the goal is to eventually stop being agorophobic and go out beyond the end of our driveway.

Hi Kath,

Are you taking Paxil for depression? I was prescribed that years ago. It actually took my son to get my father to get me help as the side effects were so bad and I was not even coherent as to what was happening. I have had many prescriptions due to the fact that I suffered from depression most of my life along with panic disorder and a host of other labels that they slapped on me. I will not take any of them. I actually kick myself real hard in the rear now and do not let myself fall into a slump. I also wake up every morning with a good outlook inspite of the many things that could bring me down so easily and there are many and it is tough. My son was prescribed things also. One was Remeron which he did not like and would not take (fine by me since if it does not feel right it is not right) and the other depotoke (not sure on the spelling). He never did take that one because when I read the possible side effects, there was just no way that I would let him take that.

I wish you the best in your quest to health

Blessings,

Toni

Kath,

Being a sufferer of Panic disorder I know that agorophobia all too well. I pretty much stay secluded which is not a way to live but I do have to go to the supermarket so I manage though my keys are gripped tightly into my hand..lol I can go to appointments and such but if I see a bunch of people, I just lose it.Funny thing is that I am so super friendly and will talk to every stranger I encounter. Wierd!

Reminds me of a Golden Girls episode with Mull where they finally get him to go into the market after hibernating for 20 years and he is the millionth customer or something like that and all these alarms go off and balloons come falling down :) Depending on the prize, I just might be able to live with that lol

All the best to you,

Toni
