Hi everyone

I have a bit of a problem and I wonder if I could get some advise from any of you. Long story here goes:

Three and a half years ago I fell at work and injured my lower back. I ended up having surgery to remove two discs, L4/5 and L5/S1. It didn't work much. I still have all the same symptoms and am still taking narcotics for the awful pain. Physical therapy had to be stopped after three months because I couldn't take the pain of some of the exercises. I still walk with a fore arm crutch but at least I can walk. Since I am still having the same problems the docs now want to do a mylogram on the disc above the graft (L3/4). This disc is somewhat compromised as it is and I'm told that a test like this could compromise it further. Also if they find anything wrong with it they want to do yet another surgery. I don't like this idea.

I was thinking that in a couple of weeks I should have enough money to do a complete body cleanse. Not just the juice cleanse but digestive cleanse 1 and 2, liver, kidney, gall bladder ect. The diet afterward shouldn't be a problem since I feel I eat pretty much as well as that now. No dairy, very little meat ect. Also I was thinking of getting a treadmill for walking more. I think the muscles in my back need the walking. It's hard for me to walk the streets since I need to sit after a very short while. So the tread mill I think would be good along with a stationary bike. Exercise hurts now more than it ever did in the past before or since the surgery. I just feel that I can't stop it and do nothing for the rest of my life. That would be no life. I really feel that I should and need to keep moving. I tried on of those rebound exercisers and kept falling off. LOL!! I must have a terrible sense of balance. :) I am thinking of slowly getting myself off the narcotics and maybe letting some of my own endorphins get back to work. The more I move the more I really hurt but I still feel I want to try.

Other than the body cleanse, the diet and exercise is there anything any of you could suggest for me to do to avoid the surgery. I am now on low dose morphine twice a day, lortab 10 mg. three times a day and a muscle relaxer three times a day. I have to take stool softeners and laxatives so that I don't run into other problems too. Like I said, I am going to try to slowly take myself off of these meds and hopefully by the time I am set to do the cleanse I should be off of them completely. My poor liver and kidneys. They really do need to be cleaned out don't they? I welcome any advise folks. Thanks a bunch.

Whoa! Lynn, thanks for sharing that. Makes my puny legs feel much better!

First off the cleanse would be wonderful for your entire body. It sure can't hurt. However, with your condition and the medications you are on, I would recommend you not attempt this on your own. You said you could afford a cleanse, can you afford to go to a fasting center? How about Hippocrates in Florida or Tanglewood in land?

That's about all I can offer you on this subject, but know that support is available anytime you want to write.

Lynn,

cancel the meadowsweet for now.. since you're taking morphine. How about MSM? Start taking it and as it begins to help.. lessen the morphine and up the MSM.

Lynn,

besides morphine, what are you taking? give us a list of what all you take.. Have you tried hot/cold therapy? Meadowsweet for pain, epsom salt baths? How about starting some juice or water fasts for starters...

Hi Lynn,

I do believe that you have received some excellent advise from both

Shari and Sue. With all the medications your are currently taking it

will make cleansing a much more difficult adventure. Tanglewood

Wellness Center is probably close to you and you can contact them and

maybe even schedule an appointment to talk with Loren Lockman himself.

Here is the particulars for Tanglewood. All those drugs will only keep

your body from health and healing. As for the yoga the correct url is

www.masteryoga.org.

Thurmont, MD 21788

Visits by appointment only.

I firmly believe that an assisted fast would go further in helping you

than anything else at this point Lynn. Do check them out and look into

others as well. I agree that the walking will help but I believe that

you first just need to allow your body to do its own healing without

the interference of you or anyone else. I believe you can overcome this

and allow your body to repair the current disc. Then with proper

dietary habits, exercise, etc you should be able to get off the meds.

Creative visualization and positive affirmations will help you a lot

too. Exercising in a pool would most likely be very good for you too as

it will take a lot of the stress off your back while you are

exercising. Meditation and Sue's recommendation of yoga will greatly

improve your health on all levels.

-- Peace be with you, Lynn.
