Guest guest
I found this information at Dr. Weil's site....now I did see that he says that the gallbladder flush is folk remedy that doesn't work but anyhow, I thought well there are many out there who believe this to be true....Anyhow this was also found at his site: " If a patient can't tolerate surgery, two drugs, Actigall (ursodiol) and Chenix (chenodiol), can help dissolve gallstones, but treatment can take months. Another nonsurgical alternative, shock-wave lithotripsy, is experimental; it uses sound waves to break up the stones. There is some evidence that a very low-fat diet may prevent stone formation and also prompt stones to dissolve. If your mother is not having painful attacks, she should improve her diet and reduce fat intake to keep the stones quiet. If she is experiencing pain, removal of the gallbladder is the best bet. " I have not read nor heard anything regarding diet change dissolving them...have you? And if this is true, why did I get them in the first place? Was it those Oreo cookies I eat about once every few months or so? I certainly in 10 years have had maybe a couple dozen fried foods a year....I mean that is how healthy I eat....hmmm....somehow this whole thing is flawed with food being the cause of them....I just don't think they have all their stones in a row on this......ooopss....my oversight........ rapid weight loss or not eating can also cause them, and I do have rapid weight loss when my lupus goes into a flare and it is not because I don't eat that is when my appetite is the largest....last time I flared I ended up 109 pounds, I was emaciated horribly. Anyhow, I guess there are somethings we all have to look at in pursuit of health but quite frankly my dear, I don't give a stone if I have to give up fatty foods but please don't take my Oreo cookie. roflol Peace Lu

He made this statement with out any supportive documentation for that statement. If he would do it with something so critical as gallbladder health he'll do it else where. Sorry,, But I just do not find a good reason to repect this man even though a friend of mine consideres him her friend. Regarding the disolving of stones we know that some will develop for various reasons and then disappear in time. Take for example what happens with pregnant women. They may develope them during the time of pregnancy and then they may disappear in a short time afterwards. Diet???? What do they crave while pregnant?? Guest guest
That is an interesting thought Dale on the pg women. I like his recipes and as you say some of what he shares is good and all but I do know I have ran across some questionable comments he has made as well. The one thing that had me puzzled is that he says that the gallstones can start out as small grainy sand......well gee....let me see.......*hmmmmm*...........isn't that grainy sand we are seeing in our flushes? ,-) Anyhow, yepperz, like everything, we cannot know unless we at least try it or listen to others when there seem to be thousands out there that can give the testimony needed for some of the folklore methods that do work! lol Peace Lu ----- Original Message ----- From: Dale gallstones Sent: Wednesday, April 10, 2002 12:51 AM Subject: Re: Diet and stones <<<<<<< I found this information at Dr. Weil's site....now I did see that he says that the gallbladder flush is folk remedy that doesn't work but anyhow, I thought well there are many out there who believe this to be true....Anyhow this was also found at his site: >>>>>>> This is just exactly why I lost all respect for this man's opinons, and quite reading anything he had to say even if he is correct. Guest guest
Lu, I've recently found out that no matter how good your diet is, in some cases heretitary reasons come into play for gallstones in a lot of people. I've never heard that dieting can desolve stones but maybe it works for some people. Depends on the stone, bile flowing over the stone, and the person holding the stone. Who's holding that stone? In my case, heretitary gallstones goes back to my father, and grandpa and grandma. My brother and I have them too. It must be in the genes. Stones in the genes in my case. :-) Barry. > I found this information at Dr. Weil's site....now I did see that he says that the gallbladder flush is folk remedy that doesn't work but anyhow, I thought well there are many out there who believe this to be true....Anyhow this was also found at his site: > > " If a patient can't tolerate surgery, two drugs, Actigall (ursodiol) and Chenix (chenodiol), can help dissolve gallstones, but treatment can take months.
