Guest guest
Hello, I don't know the proper terms, but I've learned that following gallbladder removal, stones may be left behind in a duct between the liver and gallbladder. What are the tests for this --Ultra sound? I thought that there was a test in which a tube is inserted in the throat....and that the stones in the duct could be removed. Have I got this wrong? If that's the case, then could those stones be removed? It seems to me that it may be a way to get relief and to avoid radical surgery. Just a thought from a layperson..... ~Suzanne
Guest guest
Hi Suzanne, I'm one of those people who most likely still had a stone(s) left in my common bile duct after GB surgery. I was having the same severe pain after eating fat. My surgeon recommended I come in for an ERCP, which is done to detect and remove any stones in the ducts (he didn't suggest any test other than that). I tried the liver cleanse instead! I got immediate relief, passing hundreds of stones, and after 2 cleanses, I was symptom free. Guest guest
Suzanne, Of course. If I had a stone in the common duct I would definitely try flushing first before having them stick a tool down my throat. There is a lot of success stories of people flushing 'smaller' duct stones out of their digestive systems fairly easily. It even seems logically easier to get a duct stone out in a flush than even a bigger gallstone. Go for it and avoid surgery at all costs. Worth a try, right? Surgery can always be a last option if you can't control the problem with alternative methods. Duct stones can be seen by ultrasound but sometimes not. Dye can be injected into the ducts to further view the tract.
