This is my understanding also. Stones form in the liver if there is a

blockage somewhere else in the system, such as a stone in the bile duct.

This will keep bile from flowing normally from the liver. This stagnant

bile can form stones. I do not know if this is always life-threatening, but

I know it can be dangerous.

I think that Dale will agree that this is pretty serious stuff and may

change some preconceptions about intrahepatic stones.

I do agree, without hesitation, as to just how dangerous intrahepatic stones

are. Those that have developed to be as large as the ones in this picture

are very possibly a good part of the reason for the demise of the individual

from whom it was taken.
