Not only can a blockage of bile flow from the liver create these hard 'problematic' liver stones but also a very sluggish or fatty type liver can too. Nevertheless, hard liver stones are very very rare. They are much more rare than even gallstones which is rare in itself as far as gallstones that cause colic.
