Hi :

Do you supplement anything for the loss of electrolytes? One of the books

that I have on juice fasting by Paavo Airola provides a vegetarian broth

recipe for mineral replacement to supplement the juice fasting. I used it

for a 21 day fast, then got worried about what I might be losing in the way

of minerals, etc. Also, do you take vitamins and supplements while doing

juicing? By the way, I felt great during the 21 day fast and am about to go

again, but do have a concern about electrolytes and mineral supplementation.

The best information that I've found on fasting is by an M.D., Fuhrman.

He's written several books on the subject. I like his analysis of the

benefits of fasting, but his is water based. I believe that you can achieve

the same results with juice fasting. His site by the way is at:

http://www.drfuhrman.com/ He is a guy that at about age 28 was in very poor

health and water fasted for over 40 days and regained his health. For " how

to " on juice I like the books by Airola, and Steve Meyerowitz. Also the web

site of " Fasting International " has some good information but to do one of

their fasts with their long-distance support costs several hundred dollars.

Hi Jay,

The juices are very high in enzymes, minerals, electrolytes etc.

I don't take any supplements and never have.

What I drank almost exclusively during the 4 months was the " potassium

drink " advocated by Norman . This is carrot, celery, parsley,

and spinach. However I am not that fond of spinach. I continued these

juices for several years, then gradually tapered off, primarily due to

lack of availability of good organic veggies.

Now I have a garden but am not growing carrots or celery.

One of my habits is to toss herbs in the blender with water and then

drink this. This morning I tossed in sweet tarragon and drank 1/2

gallon of this prior to exercising for 90 minutes on the rowing

machine.

Cheers.
