Guest guest
I was reading about adrenals on Mercola's site and had a total aha moment. He said that you need to go to bed by ten which I have been trying to do since I found out I have CFS so the adrenals can get recharged and that between 11 and 1 is when the gall bladder dumps bile. That is why I have had all but one of my attacks at 1 oclock in the morning. I am assuming the pain is coming from stones in the gall bladder blocking the bile. I am on day three of the apple juice cleanse. I am purchasing cleansing herbs from Dr 's site today. I am afraid to start eating. Maybe I will juice a few more days. Guest guest
Dear Dawn, You are right. The gb will release bile in the night for some reason. But you still need to eat. I found ways to avoid the pain while I was flushing. I stayed away from all those 'colic triggering' foods. Fats, and even dry foods like chips or crackers would set off a night time attack. Learn to eat what is good for you. Also, it is better not to eat anything after dinner. No bedtime snacks. Or if you do, make sure it is something very light like fruit or something. I could eat breakfast and lunch with no problems so I would eat more for those meals. Boiled chicken, potatos plain, carots, etc, etc. But, once again, you have to eat something. Stay healthy with the good foods. Good luck, Barry. > I was reading about adrenals on Mercola's site and had a total aha > moment. Guest guest
OK, but why is it that " natural " fats like avacado and olive oil, nuts, etc, don't cause the colic and they are fats, but the bad ones do? Dawn Because, colic is not caused by good fats, it is caused by chemicals produced in the process of heating natural fats and other foods .... Trans-fats, polymers, acrylamides, ... hundreds of known carcinogens ... Job of the liver is to process harmful chemicals and detox body ... Guest guest
Dawn, Every 'body' is different. Different people have different colic 'trigger' foods. For me it was french fries, greasy foods, potato chips, dry roasted peanuts, and eating heavy at night. Sometimes even eating a few dry ritz crackers at night would set off a midnight attack. Find out what to avoid for yourself. Know your own body and avoid pain. Dry foods triggered colic more for me than fatty foods for some reason. Olive oil is good fat. There is no cholesterol in pure virgin oil. The olive oil will cause the gb to contract because of the contents but for some reason I never had pain during a flush. My 1 cm hard gb stone never exited but I also didn't have any pain while the gb was contracting. I don't really understand that part either besides the explanation that the large amount of oil was 'coating' my system or the bile was flowing different during a cleanse than during the night after dry or fatty foods. One time during an attack in the middle of the night I drank a half cup of olive oil and the colic pain increased to the point of having to go to ER for an antispasmodic shot. That was the worse colic I ever had that night. I never mixed olive oil with colic again. I'd love to hear more answers to this question as well. Why would taking oil during colic increase the pain but taking the oil in a cleanse not produce the colic?
