Is the skin raw with a lot of burning sensation when the layer of skin comes off? If so was it already that way when you saw the doctor? It's kinda hard to know from a worded description what is actually happening. Also is the affected area growing? The description you gave could be indicative of a serious condition and if it has changed drasticly in a negative way since you saw your doctor you should contact him again immediatly for another appointment. If the condition hasnt become significantly worse since your last doctor visit then you would probably be better to try to keep the area dry instead of moisturized, Gold bond powder maybe. The most likely cause is candida and if that is the case the affected area shouldnt grow very fast. The thing that would tend to contraindicate that diagnosis is the location. Candida prefers warm, dark and moist. The next possibility would be staph which can be very serious if not treated in a timely manner. In short if it is getting worse you better get in to see your doctor as soon as possible. Orin
Guest guest
Just one time I tried a medicine for gout called Allopurinol and the most dangerous side effect listed was a burning peeling rash which I got on my face. I stopped the drug immediately but the listed warning was that it was a very serious reaction. Co-incidentally I didn't have gout-I had PA. Peggy B. B - I've taken allopurinol for years for uric acid kidney stones - never noticed any rash. But I'll look out for it now and make sure my P really is P.
