Hi:

Some time ago someone mentioned Okinawa calcium on this list, and I have seen

it flaunted on several alternative medicine sites and lists as being the

basis for the longevity of those people. Not. If you go to

http://www.oprah.com/tows/pastshows/tows_past_20010502_e.jhtml;jsessionid=V5SO

ZFYDAPJJ5LARAYFCFEQ

you will find their longevity " secrets " are in: Diet (does include some

calcium); Exercise; Stress Reduction; and Spirituality. It is a total

lifestyle and not just one MLM supplement.

Regarding stress reduction the site states: " They practice acupressure and

massage to relieve stress and release toxins from their bodies. " I believe

that a LMT full body massage has more healing power than a general health

care provider visit. I have them from time to time and every LMT that I know

is not only aware of energy, but aware of their own healing energy and how to

use it as well. I took a week long workshop with Illana feld, creator

of feld Synergy, and watched as person after person released tons of

stress and had life changing experiences in front of our very eyes - through

very light touch - fully clothed. Touch is one of the major missing elements

in our society (U. S.) that providers offer in the form of LMT, touch

therapy, Reiki, Chiropractic, etc. to the benefit of those who use them.

(Yeah, I said it. My difficulty with chiropractic is when they operate

outside of their touch field.)

Once more greed has taken over the Okinawa calcium market in the form of MLM

and other promotional schemes, and presented it as THE solution for

longevity. It may be a contributor, but it is only one small piece. It is

schemes like that which give good alternative medicine a bad name.
