Hello ,

Well, despite the fact that durability is part of the marketing hype

on these types of blenders, they do fail with hard use. I've had two

different Vitamixes experience broken drive shafts under relatively

light duty. I suspect that the instructions are written that way to

prompt you to put the machine under less stress in order to limit the

mechanical failure possibilities during the warranty period. If

there is a lifetime warranty I suspect they are trying to forestall

the failure event so the statistics look better.

Thanks, Mike.  That makes sense.  I can see why the manufacturer would want to

have owners use " kid gloves " when operating the equipment, to reduce wear and

tear - especially when they've offered extended warranties!

But trust me - I have every intention of pushing the limits with this machine,

when it comes to the food I'm going to try pulverizing in it!

I agree with Mike here. I have had a VitaMix for roughly 20 years. I have had

to have the motor ewplaced and also the blade assembly replaced. I think I need

the blade assembly replaced again. They are pretty tough machines although they

do not do everything the ads show (at least well) in my experience.

Yes. You are missing the fact that demos are for selling machines. But no one

can use the machines that way in real life. To ensure long life of the machine,

it is a good idea to cut up the stuff ahead of time. You can use the whole

fruit, just do some cutting first.
