Whether or not a Thyroid supplement is for you, and that will be up to a

professional not me, the more acceptable med is what most naturalists would use

if one wasn't getting enough elsewhere would be Armour Thyroid. However, I

suppose someone with real experience in knowing what works and what doesn't

should weigh in on the subject.

recommended that I stop eating seaweed which is one of my favorite foods!!

Which is true??!! by the way, I stopped taking the Synthroid. It was making my

thyroid ache and I swear the tumor actually got larger. It's based on theory

anyway I think, and almost nobody out there has tried it unless they had

Hachimoto's which I don't.

I would highly recommend you Flechas Family Practice and get a phone

consultation w/Dr Flechas ... he's one of the country's leading iodine

gurus (well, along w/Brownstein). The number to his office is (828) 684-3223.

He's got me taking as much as 200g/day iodine for the Stage IV breast cancer I'm

trying to kick.

There is a usenet group called alt.support.thyroid where you can find great

information from the people there. Lots of thyca people there to offer support.

You will need a newsreader to view the group, though. I use outlook and had to

call my service provider in order to get the code to get to the usenet groups.

However, you can download a newsreader from the internet.

Or, you can check the group out on google groups.

Kindred, all allopathic doctors have different perspective. They would say that

all things discussed on this forum are the waste of time, if not harmful. The

endocrinologists believe that 150mcg of iodine is enough. And that if you don't

have the thyroid, you don;t need the iodine at all. Dentists belive that

fluoride is very good for us, but disregard the fact that it causes cancer in

rats. Should I go on?

I'm not a doctor or iodine specialist and I don't know wht is good in your case,

but you should find iodine literate doc. There is also a lot of info on the

iodine forum. Here is the site of the forum's owner (she also has some

iodine doctors listed):

Here is one more site with reference to iodine docs:

I think it was alread mentioned erlier, but Armour was reformulated and a lot of

people complain and had t switch to Naturthroid. But I definately agree that

natural thyroid meds are better than synthetics.
