Newly DX with rectal tumor

I am not sure what stage this tumor is.

I started having rectal bleeding last summer. I didn't mention it to anyone

until a couple of months ago.

My MD is wonderful he has studied several holistic cancer treatments but he has

been seeing me for fatigue and did lots of testing over the years that showed

lyme dx plus several other things.

I kept putting off the colonscopy and I have not been worried.

I am 54 and with the other health issues I have had for years I don't know

how much fight I have in me.

The Dr that did the colonscopy will not know the stage of this tumor for a few

days.

He said it was ulcerated in a couple of places.

He had already made me a appt with a surgeon and told my husband I would need

radiation prior to surgery.

I had not woke up from the colonscopy while he talked to my husband.

The Dr did call me last night and he was very thoughtful .

Can anyone give me any comments on this type of cancer?

Please don't be afraid of scaring me. My only brother died a couple of years

ago and I have felt like I wanted to be dead so that I could see him. This

does not scare me my husband and daughter is the only family I have.

With grief and struggles from lyme I think this adds more against me.

Why would he think I need radiation before surgery?

I did ask if this meant a colostomy and he said no.

Does anyone know if having ulcers on the tumor means anything?

Where would be the best holostic center for this?

My MD works out of his house and does not stay in touch with outside Drs but

he has been to Mexico and several other places but it was a long time ago.

Thanks for any information.

Hello Sandy,

I'm hoping that someone with knowledge will respond to you soon. I don't know

much at all about this type of tumor. I would suggest you get a second opinion.

Though I do understand how you feel, some cancers are relatively easy to treat.

You will need to get all the information you can about what is going on with you

before deciding you don't want to fight. I would also suggest you make an

appointment with a therapist because - based on your note below - you do sound

rather depressed. And I would hate for something like depression to cloud your

judgement when making decisions about life or death.

I don't know why radiation would be used before surgery as I'm not familar with

that type of cancer. Perhaps it is to shrink the tumor so a better surgical

outcome will be possible?

Where do you live? Perhaps someone will know of a clinic near you.

Best of luck to you.
