I could be wrong, and if I come across it I will send it out here to see what you think. " Well, I'm a long-term martini drinker and by far the best martini available is made with a large twist of lemon peel, not an olive. (You get healthy either way!) Over the years I've learned while making them at home that at times they would turn out very bitter. Eventually discovered that the " Sunkist " stamp on them in green ink when used as a part of the " twist " was the culprit. Have no idea how such a small amount of ink can make it taste so bitter, but it does. To test it out, you can lick that part of the lemon with the ink. and it's ugly. So, the instructions for that drink at the web site says to remove the ink, and righfully so. Am sure that there is much more to the ink than just the bitter flavor. Guest guest
Hi, Has anyone tried this drink? It is to cleanse the liver and move heavy metals out of the gut and blood. I started last SUnday and started either Thursday or Friday, my stools ahve been greenish like the sludge I got out in the flush. I think this must be bile- does this sound right? Guest guest
YOu take 1 whole lemon, rind and all, quarter it and put it in blender with 1 cup of juice or water (I use water) and 1 tbsp olive oil. Blend and drink. I split it into 3 b/c it is supposed to help you gain weight if you do it this way. It is used a lot by people with aids but I think it would be useful for everyone. No, I have not had anything green this week. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Rachd1961@...> <gallstones > Sent: Saturday, May 04, 2002 9:02 AM Subject: Re: Lemon / Olive oil drink effect > What drink? > > Yes, if your stools are greenish then it's likely that it's bile. Guest guest
Hi, I should send you the article. I do eat a lot of veg, maybe not enough, but a lot, but just not enough to cause this greenness. My friend who also started this drink, told me this mroning the same thing is happening to her. It makes you gain weight , b/c it helps you digest and assimiliate your nutrients. It is good for wasting. The pectin is also supposed to remove heavy metals from the gut and blood. It seems like it may be a very powerful drink. oh, and it lowers the pH of the colon so that bacteria/fungi etc. that are alkaline loving can't survive in it. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Rachd1961@...> <gallstones > Sent: Saturday, May 04, 2002 10:16 AM Subject: Re: Lemon / Olive oil drink effect > sbulmer@... writes: > > YOu take 1 whole lemon, rind and all, quarter it and put it in blender with > > 1 cup of juice or water (I use water) and 1 tbsp olive oil. Guest guest
Hi there, I think you may be right , in that you gain weight if you need to. It may even help you lose weight if you need to, by allowign the body to detox. But I'm guessing on that one. I'm not sure if there is anyhting in the lemon rind that would be bad. I hope not!! The drink is quite thick due to the pulp, but I must say I enjoy this drink and get a nice feeling, like I'm doing something good for my body. I have CFS like symptoms so I'll be taking the drink forever if it benefits me. I sent an article to the list, let me know what you think. Also, have you heard of Positive Health News? This drink is discussed a lot in the newsletters. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Rachd1961@...> <gallstones > Sent: Saturday, May 04, 2002 10:38 AM Subject: Re: Lemon / Olive oil drink effect > sbulmer@... writes: > > I do eat a lot of veg, maybe not enough, but a lot, but just not enough to > > cause this greenness. Guest guest
Hi: wrote: " Really, though, when you drink a martini you don't eat that lemon twist, do you? (maybe you do - I have no idea since I'm not a martini-drinker.) " No, you don't eat the twist, but it gives a significant aromatic flavor to the drink. Actually, what gives the flavor to the martini with a " twist " is the lemon oil or whatever it is that goes along with the oil. You can actually see the oil in the drink. A way to really give your hands a great aroma is to twist a lemon peel, and then rub your hands with the twisted peel. The twist is what extracts it. I love the smell of that aroma. By the way, Burns had 2 double martinis a day up through his late 90's (bypass surgery and all). I don't recommend it, and my own ingestion of them becomes less and less frequent, but there have been studies that do show that not only is wine beneficial to the cardiovascular system, but all alcohol in moderation seems to be. I'm in no way advocatiing alcohol for myself or anyone else, but along with the olive oil and butter (not oleo) of the mediteraian people, they do drink. French cooking in particular is simply drenched in butter, and they as a people have significantly less heart disease than we do in the U. S. A small amount of alcohol actually cuts the formation of gallstones. About wine, the red wine is good because it's the red grape skins that contain something beneficial for the heart. I forgot what it's called. I'm sure that I can find it, though. Susie
Guest guest
If they are organic lemons, no problem, but if not, they may have pesticides, oils, etc. Dawn > I'm not sure if there is anyhting in the lemon rind that would be bad.
