I used an older definition of Cancer Statistics from the late 1990's in my

earlier report.

Mr. Ken Schuler a patient advocate who is more familiar with these

definitions as currently used advised me that the RECIIST or Response and

Evaluation Criteria In Sold Tumors is now more commonly used and I give their

criteria below, the criteria fir Partial respons appears to be lowered to 30%

decrease, Progressive Diseasec at least 20% increase and Stable Disease

neither sufficient for Partial Response nor sufficient increase for Progressive

Disease.

most cancer treatment studies for calculating “treatment response†with

solid tumors utilize the 2009 Response Evaluation Criteria In Solid Tumors

(RECIST) established by a collaboration of the European Organisation for

Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC), National Cancer Institute (NCI) of

the United States, and the National Cancer Institute of Canada. See

as well as attached article.Definitions are as follows, based on CT of MRI

imaging:

a. Complete Response(CR): Disappearance of all target lesions

b. Partial Response(PR): At least a 30% decrease in the sum of the

Longest Diameter (LD) of target lesions

c. Progressive Disease(PD): At least a 20% increase in the sum of

the LD of target lesions or the appearance of one or more new lesions

d. Stable Disease(SD): Neither sufficient shrinkage to qualify for

PR nor sufficient increase to qualify for PD

Hi Readers and Acytivists,

Last night (6/4/10), I saw Burzynski, the movie at the Cinema Village at 22

East 12th Street in NY City.

The film will be playing until Thursday June 10. Times are 1:00pm, 3:10,

5:15, 7:25 and 9:40,

It is worth seeing.

The movie movingly recounts the experiences of many of the patients trying

to access Dr.Burzynski's antineoplastons, that have had remarkable success

in treating cancers with a minimum of side effects.

The movie highlights the many Complete Responses,

While totals vary depending on the trial. Totals of Complete

Response+Partial Respons=Stable Disease range from over 66% to 92%. Far and way

the best

results for Cancer treatments.

Statistics on Clinical Trial Results for Antineoplastons as reported by the

One of the less dramatic portions of the movie, details the sordid history

of numerous apparently stolen patents being filed for anti-neoplastons.

While motivations are speculative here, the behavior of at least one other

pharmaceutical company, Merck, in filing patents on the combination of

Mevacor and Coenzyme Q10 is instructive. Coenzyme Q10 is essential for heart

health, it is destroyed by statin drugs, and Mevacor is Merck's statin drug.

After Merck patented this formula, giving it exclusive rights to use it,

the company just never brought out the combination of Mevacor and Coenzyme

Q10, causing many patients to aggravate their heart disease and thereby

blocking any other company from coming out with this combination.

By patenting antineoplastons and refusing to bring out the drug, if

Dr.Burzynski could be stopped, the conventional cancer treatment industry could

continue using toxic, but highly profitable chemotherapy and

radiation. Therein lies the hidden significance of a passing economic

maneuver.
