The only way to really tell is by having Free T3 and Free T4 tests run. However, the Free T3 test is not reliable because T3 is very short lived in the body. If you still have thyroid symptoms even after your blood tests are normal, you can ask to supplement with a T3 medication such as cytomel (synthetic) or Armour (T4, T3, T2, T1).
