Guest guest
Macular Degeneration has been a spreading phenomenon, that modern medicine has not been able to reverse and has been deemed incurable by many. Taking a closer look at the condition, raises a number of conflicting bits of information. Dr. ,MD in his newsletter Nutrition & Healing of March 2001 mentions the Age Related Eye Disease Study (AREDS) reported in Opthalmology, 2000;107(12):2224-2232 which confirmed the simultaneous occurrence of faulty digestion, usually low stomach acid. Dr.'s Newsletter website is _www.wrightnewsletter.com_ (http://www.wrightnewsletter.com) His Tahoma Clinic in the State of Washington _www.tahoma-clinic.com_ (http://www.tahoma-clinic.com) A similar AREDS study in Ophthalmology;2005 Apr;112(4):553-9 found a relation to antacid use and anti-inflammatory use. The use of Antioxidant supplements and trace minerals Zinc and Copper were studied and reported in the Archives of Ophthalmology;2001:Oct;119(10):1417-36 finding that Supplementation with antioxidants, Vitamin C-500mg, Vitamin E-400 IU,Beta Carotene 15 mg Trace minerals, Zinc 80 mg,as zinc oxide Copper-2mg as Cupric oxide Those supplemented by the antioxidants+ Trace minerals decreased incidence of Macular degeneration risk to .72 compared to the placebo group and decreased .75 with antioxidants alone. The only thing that is " age related " about macular degeneration is that as people grow older, their digestion becomes less efficient. If your digestion is not properly assimilating these foods and supplements, no oral dose will work. In these cases Dr. has had success using intravenous infusions of B Vitamins, trace minerals including Zinc and selenium. Dr. estimates that about 70% of the cases can be reversed or at least stopped from progressing to blindness. On a personal note, I could not convince my father, who has macular degeneration and also has digestive issues to get this treatment. He is now going blind. My dad is 100 years old and says " If I made it this far I had to be doing something right. " He has a point, but " of all sad words of tongue or pen the saddest are these, it might have been. " Intravenous vitamin infusions, may be needed, but it is preferable to try oral nutrition first. Dr.Bruce West,DC in his Newsletter Health Alert of August 2010 recounts his successful experiences stopping and even reversing macular degeneration. His website _www.healthalert.com_ (http://www.healthalert.com) He first started using the phytonutrients in cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, kale, brussel sprouts etc.) about 12 years ago and conducted a small trial using some of these nutrients from the whole food supplements made by Standard Process Laboratories. He uses: Cruciferous Complete 4-6 capsules daily Iplex, a multinutritional product for the eyes, 3 daily Blue Ice Fermented Cod Liver Oil-3 capsules/day The Cod liver oil is rich in vitamins A, D and F(omega-3 fatty acids). Dr. West reports that almost all cases stabilized. Now he is adding Bilberry made by MediHerb at 3 daily as recommended by Dr. Kimberlin,DC and Dr.Bill Plauche,MD an ophthalmologist who used it successfully on their patients. Dr.West in his newsletter, has pictures of the eye of one of the patients treated by Drs. Kimberlin and Plauche showing that the Drusen (yellow or white specks on the macula in the eye of Macular Degeneration patients) and considered a sign of Macular Degeneration actually disappeared after 6 months of treatment. The patient started seeing results after 30 days.
