Guest guest
Sorry about the previous post. It contained typos. At or about 17:39, 30/07/02 (my clock), Dale made the following statement: >It really wasn't all that hard to fine information regarding this herbal >combination. List of articles; not a single one in any journal regarded as reputable. >http://www.planetherbs.com/articles/triphala.html Describes the herb as being a laxative. Thus, I repeat my request for serious information: How do you know it's safe? Have you seen any statistics? What about side effects, interactions with other materials? Have the efficacy and safety been studied? How about the effects of prolonged use? Comparison with placebos? Possibility of addiction? ============ " Ira L. son " <laser@...> ============
Guest guest
Ira, I will ask you a question to illustrate the irrelavance of your questions. Let's talk about drinking water, breathing air, and eating food. I will ask you the same questions you asked about an herbal combination that has been used for hundreds of years by millions of people. " How do you know it's safe? Have you seen any statistics? What about side effects, interactions with other materials? Have the efficacy and safety been studied? How about the effects of prolonged use? Comparison with placebos? Possibility of addiction " ? Keep in mind now, no word of mouth, handed down for generations, gut feeling, anecdotal evidence allowed. I want millions of dollars, double blind, placebo controlled studies, published and peer reviewed in major medical journals. If you can't produce these for breathing air, drinking water, and eating food, I'll say you don't 'really know' that these things are safe! This list is here because some things won't be studied and reviewed in the next several years, yet common sence and wide spread experiences point to the evidence that they are safe enough. People's own experience is what they base their decisions on. If something works, I'll try it and make my own judgement. The doctors and pharmacists can make the decisions for their health and they'll pay the consequences. Why delegate to them all the decisions for your own health? If you die they say ther're sorry, but take no responsibility for your sickness or death. Like wise with my own decisions - I make them and am responsible for the consequenses. If you want to wait for modern medicine to catch up with the wisdom of the past, you won't see it in your life time. It would be a pity if you missed out on the benefits of good health because you waited for the people with profit as their first priority. You have the first priority of your own health. Thus, conflicting goals are at work. As long as your good health make " them " money, they will help you. If making you healthy will lose them money, they will at best NOT help you, and at worst hinder you. The love of money is the root of all types of evil, and this is an example of that. I hope you can broaden your idea of how we can minimize our risks in furthering our own health, because apparently by your posts, you are focusing on a very narrow part of the evidence spectrum. Scientific studies are great, but not the sum total of all knowledge. I wish you good health, Ira. You'll have to branch out though to experience it in it's fullness.
