Guest guest
,I just started taking Dr Cabot`s Livatone and was having mild discomfort in the liver area.I was wondering if this was normal or if I should be concerned. It is nothing like the pain of GB attack, just mild discomfort.Thanks. Hello, I've taken Dr. Cabot's Livatone for a good long time without any discomfort. If it's giving you discomfort, please hold up on taking it. Maybe you're sensitive to something in it right now. First, how do you take it, in fresh juice like carrot/celery or whatever or in organic apple juice? Take care, Susie

Guest guest
Good point, Dale. I was going to tell the person to cut back the amount that she was taking. Sometimes you have to build up to certain things. I started drinking Living Fuel Superfood twice a day, but it was hurting me a little bit around the liver area. So I cut back to once a day, which did help. Now I'm just taking it every few days or so. Susie
Guest guest
I would take a guess that the " discomfort " you both experienced is a liver stimulation that happens with some of these types of products. I tend to have that happen with some foods that stimulate and with my special liver and gallbladder juice drink. My juice drink contains 1/2 of a whole lemon, 1/4 of a beet (size will vary considerably, sometimes), two celery sticks, around an ounce of parsley, and then the rest will be carrot juice. This is a 24 ounce size which is also strained so there is no chunks in the mix. I can often tell that my liver has been stimulated with this drink because of the mild discomfort that I'll tend to get for around an hour or two after drinking it. But, I can't complain since I haven't had one of those attacks that wakes one up in the early morning Instead of taking the recommended amounts you might consider taking one every other day or just one a day. The fact that you are sensitive to the action of the things you are eating or taking as supplements will certainly help you in discerning the good and the bad. I can certainly tell when I've done a no no with some types of foods. I will skip a day & try one every other day and see what happens.I had a mild attack last nite that I stopped from going real bad with coptis & curcuma.I didnt think I ate real bad but mayme I am mistaken.I have been eating whole grain bread usually as dry toast will whole grain cereal for breakfast.I have tried to keep my snacks to whole grain products. It seems the only time I feel good is if I dont eat.I also just got super food from Dr Schultz,Should this have any adverse affects on the situation if anyone knows???? Guest guest
Ira; I'm a little confused and would like to have a bit more understanding of this question you're promoting. Are you not able to understand that to stimulate in this case is to cause a reaction from the liver and gallbladder? In this case stimulate has to do with the way the organ reacts to the food or suppliment being processed and because of that stimulation there is a sensation and that sensation is a gestation of a manifestaion of discomfort. stim·u·late stim·u·late (stim?y?-lat´) verb stim·u·lat·ed, stim·u·lat·ing, stim·u·lates verb, transitive 1. To rouse to activity or heightened action, as by spurring or goading; excite. See synonyms at provoke. 2. To increase temporarily the activity of (a body organ or part). 3. To excite or invigorate (a person, for example) with a stimulant. Excerpted from The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, Third Edition Copyright © 1992 by Houghton Mifflin Company. No. While I understand the use of the term in general parlance, I was asking if there is a general understanding on what it means to stimulate a liver. If I had asked what the meaning of stimulation of a ballpoint pen meant, that would not indicate that I don't understand stimulation as a general term, but rather what it means in connection to the item under discussion. Guest guest
Ok Ira; so much for poetic endeavor on my part the words I used will work but it's not worth the time to get into that. The fact is now that you've explained yourself it may be better deserving of an answer of which I would have presumed you would conclude upon your own gestation. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>. Ira said; No. While I understand the use of the term in general parlance, I was asking if there is a general understanding on what it means to stimulate a liver. Is stimulating a liver a good thing or a bad thing? You may have noticed that I asked that question in my original email. I stated that " I was wondering if liver stimulation, if there is such a thing, is a good phenomenon or a bad one. " >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> The fact of the matter is that to stimulate the liver and gallbladder is a good thing, its done every day someone eats. However, if the stimulation is of a sort such as one would get with having eaten too much of a good thing, or a bad thing, the fact that the gallbladder and/ or the liver are not able to provide enough bile is likely going to lead to discomfort, even if there is no blockage of the bile ducts. http://www.taoherbfarm.com/herbs/resources/liver.htm http://www.vetinfo.com/catliver.html My worst attack occurred when I was free of all signs of any stones, had a liver and gallbladder that looked as healthy and normal as anyone could expect, but had eaten a meal that was very stimulating to my liver during a time when it wasn't able to really deal with being stimulated like that. I had gone without eating fats, including essential fatty acids, and without having consumed the fatty acids needed by the liver to build a quality bile I likely didn't have it available to deal with the food I'd eaten, which was vegetarian. This was the worst of the attacks I'd had and wasn't because of my gallbladder being diseased or filled with a stone that couldn't get out. After reading about the liver some on the net and then ordered Dr. Cabot's book " The Liver Cleansing Diet " I came to realize that someone could damage their liver by not eating fats known as essential fatty acids.
