Whey isolate -- pure or polluted?

I am wondering how pure or polluted whey isolate is, due to the fact

that it comes from milk products.

I did some online reading about this -- according to one article (that

is repeated on a zillion google hits) there is not much concern here.

But I am not so sure.

I guess the major concerns are: 1. Pesticides, 2. Growth hormones

and 3. Antibiotics.

The best I can tell, most pesticices are oil-soluable, so whey isolate,

which is oil-free, should also be free of pesticides.

The bovine growth hormone is a protein molecule, and not oil soluable.

The one article I read that said there was no danger mainly discussed

the " fact " that for milk tested in the US, the levels for BGH are the

same whether or not the cow has been treated with the stuff. The

article also said any remaining BGH would be immediately destroyed in

one's gut -- it is very fragile.

Antibiotics -- not so sure on this.

I did a search on Whey and Immunocal on this site and pulled up some

old posts by Duncan Crow himself. This guy freaks me out because he

could easily be the twin brother of my old oncologist in Canada, and

that thought gives me the bad willies. However, Duncan seems quite

comfortable using whey isolate from US sources (e.g., the NOW brand).

I wonder why that is when all Canadian milk is free of BGH, and Duncan

is from Canada.

I found one source of whey isolate on the web that claims to come from

100% organic milk. The only problem is -- they sweeten their whey with

Splenda, of all things!!! (Rolling my eyes). They do have one variety

that is advertised as plain -- " chewing on cardboard " flavor that has

no splenda in it. It is damned cheap too.

Here it is:

Yes, yes, Dennis -- I know -- Immunocal comes from organic milk.
