Guest guest
This is in reply to Suzanne's past post. I've had terrible " reactions " to popping a handful of sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds --- you are the first person I have found to post a similar problem. Every once in a while, I give it a try to see if seeds and nuts still bother me. For example, today, I had 2 brazil nuts and thought I would die. First I get very cold, then I have a normal bm and finally, I have a very loose bm. During this entire time until I have the loose bm, I have pains that appear to be forcing their way very slowly through my intestinal area. Takes around 1 hour. I get a loud gurgle on the left and I know I am finally going to pass the problem food. I have the same reactions if I eat red meat but I seem to do OK with these high fat foods: almonds, uncooked butter, uncooked olive oil and 1/2 an avocado, soft boiled eggs*. (*I make certain the yolk is very runny and then, cook the white after I crack it. It is important for the white to be well cooked. Dr. Mercola has more to say about this. Do search at http://www.mercola.com for gallbladder, gallstones, eggs, avocadoes --- you'll find some interesting reports.) I find that if I take a little taurine (less than 1/4 teaspoon) at the hint of any possible problem, I can actually prevent the loose bm from occuring. Taurine stimulates the release of bile. (I get the taurine that is a powder without capsules made by Beyond a Century. It has no fillers or additives and is rather inexpensive.) (My ultrasound and upper GI was negative for problems with my liver, gallbladder and pancreas --- blood test liver values are fine too. My gastro doc wants me to get some sort of radioactive scan to determine if my gallbladder is working sufficiently. It requires eating a fatty meal. I asked her to what end and she replied that she would put me on a low fat diet. (I certainly don't need to swallow something radioactive and eat something fatty to know we have a problem here!) Any comments or advice welcomed. Does anyone else react like this? Does anyone else use taurine? Any other comments or advice is welcomed.
