Guest guest
This article is very informative and at the same time can confuse because of some aspects of the studies. However the overall thought is clear, Fish Oils can be beneficial and it is also evident they are not speaking about 'massive amounts'. One might imagine that the quality of the Fish Oil product used is important and in I would try my best, difficult as it might be, to seek out a quality product. For people on a drug plan they might consider a Prescription product that has the quality control that should give us a more standardized amount of the necessary elements. Joe C. Guest guest
Hi Joe, The amounts of long chain PUFAs (EPA and DHA ) necessary for preventing cancer in healthy individuals are likely a lot lower than what's required to halt and regress tumor growth and metastatic spread. DH in the Pardini case study ( http://tinyurl.com/n3w2on ) was very lucky to have his progress monitored as he was able to recognize that while he had managed to shrink most of his lung tumors, one was still growing slowly. An increase in EPA and DHA supplementation resulted in all tumors shrinking resulting - essentially a cure. Most cancer patients aren't lucky enough to be living next door to a researcher like Pardini and most are likely not lucky enough to have an oncologist that is willing to closely monitor this type of treatment in order to accurately assess its effectiveness (faclitating making evidence based adjustments along the way). Kind regards, Nick On Thu, 1 Oct 2009, JCastron1 wrote: > This article is very informative and at the same time can confuse > because of some aspects of the studies. Guest guest
Mike: I think the question here is not the word 'increase' but perhaps people arbitrarily taking 'massive' amounts and I'm not even sure what 'massive' might be. It is a gray area. In fact one of the points brought out was the question about too much EPA alone as being somewhat deleterious as it comes to their killing off cancer fighting cells but even with that there may be error. We're all in agreement as to benefits and even with a 'study' as brought out, much more is needed because we have been down the 'cure' road before only to learn we were wrong. Again, " increase " vs " massive " or " large " as regards amounts of Fish Oils.............just a bit too open ended. However it needs to be explored more for sure. That is why this list exists.
