Guest guest
r what can I do? I was thinking of going on Dr. Cabot's Diet just to make sure all is well. And doing that a couple of times a year. The last thing I want to do is lose what I have gained in all of this. Better overall health. Dawn, Guess you already know this, but Dr. Cabot has the 8-week plan of eating (a slow fast) and then the basics. The basic plan is healthy, too, and you can do fine on it. Guest guest
Yesterday I had my consult with the surgeon. Basically all they want to know is if you are feeling all right and if you have had diarrhea. It was interesting to find out that fear of eating is a common reaction. He told me I can eat whatever I want. :Z A couple items of interest that I did not know. First, the gallbladder is actually attached to the liver. And they have to seperate it. Which explains my seperation anxiety discomfort. I just made that up. I have some liver tenderness that should go away in a couple of more weeks and still have occasional shoulder blade pain. Since I have been a little sloppy since the surgery, I actually have the opposite problem from diarrhea but that may be too much info. LOL! Also, the surgeon told me that my bile duct will continue to enlarge to almost a cm because of increased bile flow. Well, there you go, bile ducts can dilate. But, I did not really think there was going to be an increase of bile flow. Your liver dumps a quart with or without a gallbladder, so how is there an increase? Wish I had thought to ask him that. As far as the conditon of my own gb, it was enlarged, thickened and full of many ( " too many to count " ) yellow calcium bilirubinate stones from .1 to .4 cm. I think that means 1mm to 4mm. He said in reference to my CBD starting out enlarged that maybe I had all ready started passing stones before the ultrasound that enlarged the duct. Except for this discomfort in my liver, I feel really great. Am wondering for those of you who are really experienced here, or have at least had your gb's out, what are you doing to maintain liver health? Or what can I do? I was thinking of going on Dr. Cabot's Diet just to make sure all is well. And doing that a couple of times a year. The last thing I want to do is lose what I have gained in all of this. Better overall health. I wish my gb pursuits would have been more to my definition of success. But for me, I think I made the right decision. I hope there will never be regrets, but really believe that is up to me and my actions from here on out. I really appreciate the support here in efforts to save my gb and the well wishes and continued support even though I had to opt for surgery. Best of health to you all. I know I will not be able to resist checking in now and then. Dawn
Guest guest
Hi Dawn, Other than trying to stick to a good diet, I plan on doing the liver cleanse at least twice a year, as well as doing colonics...which I've found to be beneficial...and I've mentioned this in the past, but I'll mention it again, because it's something I do on a regular basis, and which I believe promotes overall health....that is, I receive chiropractic care on a regular basis. For those who might be interested in knowing more about chiropractic, here's a good link: www.idealspine.com I also get plenty of exercise...at least 5 times a week (although chiropractic care and regular exercise were things I already did prior to my GB surgery).
