Guest guest
Well, as we all know, House MD is pure entertainment. Anyone who expects their real MD to be like House is ignorant. And we can't very well control or legislate stupidity. I don't recall my parents in the 60's confusing Marcus Welby, MD with reality. Have we really come so far as to be that unwise? If so, I don't think TV is to blame. Kim C. > > Last night on TV I saw the amazing, and very popular Dr. House. Guest guest
Well, Kim, many of us know better, but the sad fact is that a whole ton of people don't understand the difference between reality and entertainment. My personal proof for that is that I am a psychologist and over and over again with my clients who were depressed about their lives, I discovered that they were unhappy because their lives weren't like ---- Ozzie and Harriet!!! Truly! They grew up watching that stuff, and because their parents didn't act like Ozzie and Harriet they thought they were deprived of a " normal " childhood. AND, I have a friend who works at a Dalmation Rescue Center where they have had about 50 puppies brought in by people who were upset because they got a dalmation puppy for their kids and it didn't TALK (like in the movie.) So indeed, as you hoped we had not, we HAVE come so far as to be that unwise. Happy Thanksgiving! Jan Well, as we all know, House MD is pure entertainment. Guest guest
Oh geez! That's really sad and disturbing! But another point that I meant to make in response to the original posting, is that I really don't think that TV instigates malpractice suits. I believe that most ungrounded suits are due to greed rather than disillusionment.
