Guest guest
I've only been on the list a very short time but one thing I've noticed is that different foods affect people differently and I think I've seen at least two people that couldn't eat grain or wheat products. I never have a problem with popcorn even with butter and salt, but cannot tolerate ice cream Hello, Yes, you're right, and just because one food causes someone to have an attack doesn't mean that it's a unhealthy food. Some healthy foods can provoke you to have an attack. You have to find out what foods may or may not. I used to not be able to eat eggs, but now I can have a few a week. They don't bother me anymore. I can now eat a little of cheese, which doesn't bother me now, although I've totally switched to white cheese. I don't eat much but want a little every so often. I never have a problem with popcorn even with butter and salt, but cannot tolerate ice cream. I can eat yogurt with no problem and it even helps! I have even switched to soy milk. I have no problem with breads, but apples and peaches drive my gallbladder crazy. Orange juice and grapefruit juice are lifesavers. I figure the acid in these items helps digest the food. I noticed on another list that many people cannot eat tomatoes and yet I have 40 tomato plants and eats at least two daily. I wonder if the wheat might be causing some of your troubles. I know my Mother has crohn's disease (another digestive problem) and the majority of crohn's patients report an intolerance to wheat. You might try some unleavened bread. Guest guest
You could also try Ezekial bread if your local health food store sells it. It's expensive but it tastes good and there is no flour in it. Dawn, Ezekial bread is good stuff. I haven't bought any in some time, but I always loved the sesame seed type. Also, glad that you're so much better. With all the trouble that you were having, I think that you made the right decision. You were at a point where you couldn't eat anything. Guest guest
Jim, You could also try Ezekial bread if your local health food store sells it. It's expensive but it tastes good and there is no flour in it. However, in every way, it is just like bread. It is made with sprouted grains, so digests like a vegetable. How long have you been having problems? I hope you overcome it, but know that sometimes you can do everything right and still end up having to go medical. I am not happy that I had to have surgery, but I am thrilled that my pain is over. At the end, I could not even eat well cooked vegetables. I was on a mostly liquid diet. I had lost so much weight, I just could not go on. Good luck. I sure hope you have success. Guest guest
Hi Dawn,I had my first attack about 1 1/2 years ago,I didnt know what it was, then about 6 since then in about 3 month intervals,As I researched I suspected my gall bladder,2 months ago I had an attack that sent me to ER.Since then I have had rather constant trouble. It has been difficult to get things sorted out.I have learned that liquids are very important for about 6 days after a strong attack, also I am learning about foods that are healing to the GB.I am still trying and hope I can get it sorted out before its too late. Thanks for the tips and I will look for the Ezekiel bread.Jim > Jim, You could also try Ezekial bread if your local health food store > sells it.
