Guest guest
Stating that Consumer Reports is " owned by the establishment " is apparently quite a stretch. This organization regularly attacks drugs and even 'over the counter' meds. They do have, on their staff and Board of Directors people connected to society as well as Universities. Additionally they take up causes with verification of what they say. For example, they recently pushed for strong control over the Financial Industry and there is nothing more 'Establishment's than that bunch. What they don't do is publish without either their own studies or studies done by others. Leonard qualifies whereas they may not by saying, " when used properly " and that makes sense. It would be a shame to avoid Consumers Reports because they provide valuable information for every day living. Here's a site to check regarding their operation: http://www.consumersunion.org/about/ Who among our list would use them for more than cursory health information but I would re a toaster? Guest guest
Hi Robyn, Since you brought it up I'm curious to know what your political opinion about the Financial Bill has to do with cancer or cancer cures? Thank you, Sandy From: robyn howell Date: Wednesday, August 4, 2010 The financial bill that is passing congress is a nightmare. More power grab for washingrton. Guest guest
Thanks Sandy for throwing your question out and I'll add, forget the opinion, what does the Financial Bill have to do with this list? Nothing. We often drop comments about the 'Establishment' when we speak to Medical Issues etc, but we should avoid our personal opinions about political matters that have nothing to do with this list. As is correct. The only thing that is done when political opinions are posted, is generate a response contrary to, as well as in agreement with the opinion. Joe C. Guest guest
Because someone said that consumer reports or whoever they were did good things because they are trying to clamp down on the financial industry and that was good. Did you not read the rest of the email. Maybe they are not related and maybe they are. Hi Robyn, Since you brought it up I'm curious to know what your political opinion about the Financial Bill has to do with cancer or cancer cures? Guest guest
You're welcome, Joe. I often feel it's distracting and counter-productive to our health issues to bring in personal political opinions. Everyone has them but we should find a political forum to voice them and that's my opinion. Warm regards, Sandy Thanks Sandy for throwing your question out and I'll add, forget the opinion, what does the Financial Bill have to do with this list? Nothing. Guest guest
Be well, Robyn...I would prefer not to discuss political opinions on this forum at all and that's what you gave. Best regards, Sandy Hi Robyn, Since you brought it up I'm curious to know what your political opinion about the Financial Bill has to do with cancer or cancer cures?
