Guest guest
Never feel bad about asking questions for that is how we learn. One person whom has experienced the medication or a pharmicist is able to tell you more about a medication than a doctor for all he knows is what he has read out of a book. We all know each person is different, but any advice or comment is helpful. We are all here to support each other like a family.
Guest guest
There are other sources of omega 3. Free range chicken eggs have alot in them as well as grass fed beef. Also There is a supplement my husband likes that does not go rancid because each serving is individually wrapped. It is fish oil but with an orange flavor . Its called Coromega. Doesnt cod liver oil have omega 3 in it as well? Then there are supplements that help with oxydation within the body like grape seed extract and many more. Guest guest
Hi Cheri, My 4-1/2 yr. old was just diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis also. Her rheumy advised trying Borage oil and I can tell you what dosage he ordered for her. The important ingredient is GLA -Gamma-Linolenic- Acid (Omega 6 fatty acid) and he wanted her to have 250-300 mg of GLA per day. This comes in a gel capsule and you can just poke a hole in it with a pin and squeeze the gel into juice. I'm not sure how that compares to the Omega 3, but thought it might be helpful. Lianna is not on any Rx at this point and we're hoping that the Borage oil will be enough to give her some comfort for now. I'd love to hear more about your daughter and how she's doing. e-mail me privately if you'd like! Jo Anne, mom to Lianna(4)PsA > > I bought some of this today and was wondering if any of you have experience with it. My daughter is 4 1/2 and has Psoriatic Arthritis and is taking Methotrexate. The smallest pill they had was 1000 mg. Any insight on how much to give her? how often? We have a pill cutter / crusher, so that's no problem cutting it up. > > Thanks, > > Cheri and Libby (4 1/2 Psoriatic Arthritis) >
Guest guest
I really don't know how much Omega 3 to give a little one like Libby...but you say you got it in pill form? Ours comes in a gel-like capsule and you can just squeeze the bit of oil fom the capsule into food and kid's won't even notice! Can you ask her rheumy? Guest guest
Cherri, One Caution. Please make sure from other Parent's here before starting her one this. Remember that giving Prescribed Medication can cause a reaction if given a Herb or Vitamins. I have no experience with this much. As has taken the Omega 3 but was totally of Prescribed Medications. We do not want to mix Medication and cause a Problem. RobbinSee what's free at AOL.com.
Guest guest
Omega 3 is a nutrient (not an herb) but if derived from fish oil (which it often is), then it has the ability to thin the blood. I take it daily because of a genetic clotting disorder called Protein S deficiency, but when I am taking Heparin, a prescribed blood thinner (used during my last pregnancy) then my doctor warned me not to take fish oil. If I remember right, an adult only needs 400 mg. daily and a child shouldn't take more than 200 mg. daily. Isabelle takes the strawberry flavored chewable capsules which I ok'd with her doc.Robbin40@... wrote: Cherri, One Caution. Please make sure from other Parent's here before starting her one this. Guest guest
, the Bariatric Advantage people no longer make the packets of that great Omega oil, sadly. I loved it. I also have not been in touch with Jen for quite awhile and she has moved a coupleof times. The last I heard, though, when I ordered 6 boxes, she still had a couple cases of the Omega oil packets left in her old stock. Email her and ask - .JA56@... Good luck! Guest guest
Best fish oil is BodyBio Kirunal gel. They are the small ones 50mgs and have no kickback. Pricey but the smallest and most digestible. I use them for dog skin irritation also. Google them to order. They are in NJ.
