Guest guest
I applaud your ability to go so much with raw foods. It's really hard for me. But the ice cream puzzles me. From everything I've read, cancer cells thrive on sugar, so the first thing we did was cut out all sugar and simple carbs. Please tell me ice cream is OK !!!!!! I'll love you forever. Thanks. I never drank alcohol, or smoked, or did any drugs. Ice cream is my one and only vice. I just hate to give it up completely. Remember, I am a vegetarian raw foodist who developed cancer...so, ice cream is probably bad. I did go three years without hardly any sugar and it was GREAT. I've just fallen waaaaaay off the wagon. ar -- Arlyn Grant arlynsg@...
Guest guest
For ice cream people on the Budwig diet freeze FOCC or Flaxseed Oil/drained yogurt sweetened with honey and add flavorings like vanilla, fruit concentrate, or cocoa powder/carob. An ice cream substitute I really like is to freeze sliced banana, then top with chocolate or carob sauce made by melting 1 Tblspn coconut oil, and adding 1 oz cocoa powder or carob powder, sweeten with honey or stevia or xylitol, add vanilla or almond extract. The cold banana solidifies the coconut oil so it's like a chocolate shell on an ice cream bar. Yummy. I just started trying the carob since I realized I was reacting to caffeine. It is not bitter so doesn't require much sweetener compared to cocoa. My version of pizza is to cook a grain like rice or buckwheat, spread out for the crust, top with homemade pizza sauce or yogurt with spices and herbs, then mozzarella cheese, then bake until cheese melts and top with onion, garlic, and mushrooms sauteed in coconut oil, and black olives, broccoli, or whatever. Guest guest
, Yum! Would you mind sending me detailed recipes (I'm stupid in the kitchen) for the frozen FOCC? I'm willing to try anything. I have a delicious frozen banana/carob shake I used to make. I just keep forgetting to purchase all the ingredients. Your pizza sounds yummy, too. ar On Mon, 21 Apr 2008 12:13:19 -0700, " Tad Winiecki " <winiecki@...> said: > For ice cream people on the Budwig diet freeze FOCC or Flaxseed > Oil/drained yogurt sweetened with honey and add flavorings like > vanilla, fruit concentrate, or cocoa powder/carob. I'm willing to try anything. Arlyn- I can't say I make the FOCC ice cream, but just the frozen bananas, but here is a recipe from the Flaxseedoil2 forum, plus one for " pie " . I would think you could use strawberries, peaches, papaya or bananas instead of mangos. The short method would be to make FOCC (I don't like cottage cheese so use yogurt cheese or strained yogurt instead), sweeten, flavor, freeze and eat or freeze in an ice cube tray and blend with fruit like strawberries to make a frozen smoothie. Or I've made frozen smoothies in a blender by freezing the fruit and adding milk and lemon juice, sweetener, and vanilla, so it would work adding the unfrozen FOCC to the frozen fruit and whisk in a blender. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Recipe- This is how I make ice cream with FO/CC. The mangos can be replaced with berries. After trying please let me know how it turned out. Suzy ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Budwig Ice Cream Ingredients A: 4 big mangos [5 small] 2 tbsp very thick coconut milk 3/4 cup raw milk 1-2 tbsp honey or 2-4 tsp sugar brown sugar 1/4 tsp cardamon powder 1/8 tsp cinnamon powder Ingredients B 6 tbsp cottage cheese 3 Tbsp of flaxseed oil 3 tbs raw milk Ingredient C 1 1/2 tbsp flaxseed [grind] Topping: Walnuts chopped Mango cut in cubes Method: Blend all ingredients A until smooth. Pour in a bowl and place in the freezer. Blend ingredients B until oil is thoroughly mixed and no oily streaks can be seen. Mix with ingredients A. Cool in freezer for 15 mins then pour into an ice cream machine. When soft and creamy add the flaxseeds [grind them first]. Serve in bowls and top with walnuts and mango cubes. Tip: For a firmer ice cream leave in freezer for 1-2 hours. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I usually take my FO/CC as a smoothie, however " Tina from the boonies " once gave me an excellent FO/CC alternative to make it into a " Strawberry Pie " . -Grind 4-5 tbls whole flaxseed and mix with some coconut oil until it becomes a consistency like a graham cracker crust. Press into the bottom of a bowl. -On top of this " crust " , add a layer of sliced strawberries. -Blend the FO/CC until it is the standard " cream " ; add organic cinnamon powder & Stevia or honey to taste. Spread the cream on top of the strawberries. - Top the cream with some crushed or ground nuts (I use Brazil nuts). This actually tastes very good and other fruit pie variations might also be created. Guest guest
Jan If you do eat ice cream, I would suggest eating natural ice cream like Alta Dena with NO chemicals and no white sugar or something like Rice Dream or Soy Dream.
