For ages the standard was 4.0 and below and the only reason they used that number, a Urologist said, " they picked 4 because they had no standard and still do not " . People have cancer with less than 3.0 and others do not with PSA over 10. Do not let them panic you into unnecessary effort to control a no-meaning test result. The time to get concerned is when you see regularly increasing, highly, PSA readings or the URO feels a nodule on the Prostate when he gives you a digital exam.
