According to this link Thiamine may increase the growth of tumors in Cancer

patients.  Benfotiamine may do this, I am doing research before taking it for

neruopathy. FYI

Have you tried a product called Benfotamine? You buy it online. It is

specifically for neuropathy - several BVitamins and other stuff. I have had

success.

Al,

Let me know your findings. I received this email as I was about to purchase

Benfotiomine. The article is over 10 years old though

Thanks

Dan

I will.  I am seeing my oncologist for my four and one half year check up next

week. I will ask him what he thinks.  I do not use his opnion over my own

research though.

Keep in touch,

Al

600 mg of ALA is probably not a sufficient dose to reverse or alleviate

neuropathy.

Sometimes you need to go as high as 1,800- 2,400 mg a day to see results.

when one sees substential improvement, dose can be cut down.

please take note that prolonged use of ALA especially at high doses need to be

supplemented with B-complex, as it strips the body of certain B vitamins.

I would like to add, make sure its an all natural ALA, if not marked its half

natural and half synthetic. Country Life , Biochem has a R-Lipoic acid which is

all natural. The R in front means natural.

On the other hand, synthetic source nutrients may provide initial cellular

benefits, but over time, they act to accelerate the degeneration of DNA, ending

in earlier cell death. Synthetic nutrients initially stimulate the cell to

accomplish work which may appear to be beneficial, but long-term, the DNA and

cellular degradation cannot justify the initial benefits. Consequently, using

ALA derived from a synthetic source can defeat the purpose of using an ALA

supplement to live longer more healthfully. Not only has a stable form of DHLA

been badly needed, but also a DHLA source that has been derived from a " once

living " source so it is capable of imparting significant, long-term DNA

protection and cellular benefits.

Above is a copy from a web site.

So you are saying the S form of ALA is actually bad for you?

Since there is also evidence that magnesium supplementation can cut down and/or

delay and prevent neuropathy caused by oxipalatin people should be using

magnesium on a daily basis. Topically applied magnesium chloride has been shown

to increase blood levels of magnesium faster and more effectively than oral

tablets. IV magnesium could be used but it would be so much easier to use

magensium oil as a topical application, or to add it to baths, which also are

frequently recommended to people with neuropathies. This would increase

vascular circulation, decrease pain, and bring magnesium levels up if you are

deficient. You might want to try some magnesium oil.

Besides the fact that some chemotherapy drugs cause a depletion of magnesium in

our bodies, Dr. Sircus has written about the relationship of magneisum to cancer

and how it acts as a necessary protector against cancer cells. See the chapters

on this in Winning the War Against Cancer book: " It is known that

carcinogenesis induces magnesium distribution disturbances, which cause

magnesium mobilization through blood cells and magnesium depletion in

non-neoplastic tissues. Magnesium deficiency seems to be carcinogenic, and in

case of solid tumors, a high level of supplemented magnesium inhibits

carcinogenesis. "
