Guest guest
I know that Immunocal is a source of glutathione but at the moment I am keen to stay off dairy products for a while. Any other suggestions how I can increase glutathine in the diet besides Immunocal? I am not very clear on whether whey is good or bad, although denatured isolated whey protein (i think) is a good alternative source of whey. Can anyone kindly enlighten me on this? Thanks. Guest guest
Well, I use Lifewave and I am already seeing changes in my skin! They are patches (no pills) so that part is a blessing. Guest guest
Hi HP See below about supplements that can raise the glutathione concentration (cut and pasted from a website). I also read that if you supplement with reduced glutathione, you can dissolve the powder in your mouth so it circumvents the GI tract (where its not well absorbed) and goes directly to the liver. I also take NAC and SAMe Regards Dan Supplementation Supplementing has been difficult, as research suggests that glutathione taken orally is not well absorbed across the GI tract. In a study of acute oral administration of a very large dose (3 grams) of oral glutathione, Witschi and coworkers found that " it is not possible to increase circulating glutathione to a clinically beneficial extent by the oral administration of a single dose of 3 g of glutathione. " [9] <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glutathione#cite_note-8#cite_note-8> [10] <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glutathione#cite_note-9#cite_note-9> There is no evidence that glutathione has any effect in skin whitening. However, tissue and serum glutathione concentrations can be raised by increased intake of the precursor cysteine <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cysteine> , or in chronic conditions, by <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S-Adenosyl_methionine> S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe).[11] <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glutathione#cite_note-10#cite_note-10> [12] <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glutathione#cite_note-11#cite_note-11> Glutathione precursors rich in cysteine include <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acetylcysteine> N-acetylcysteine (NAC)[13] <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glutathione#cite_note-12#cite_note-12> [14] <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glutathione#cite_note-13#cite_note-13> and undenatured <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Undenatured> whey <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whey_protein> protein,[15] <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glutathione#cite_note-14#cite_note-14> [16] <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glutathione#cite_note-15#cite_note-15> [17] <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glutathione#cite_note-16#cite_note-16> [18] <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glutathione#cite_note-17#cite_note-17> [19] <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glutathione#cite_note-18#cite_note-18> [20] <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glutathione#cite_note-19#cite_note-19> [21] <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glutathione#cite_note-20#cite_note-20> [22] <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glutathione#cite_note-21#cite_note-21> and these supplements have been shown to increase glutathione content within the cell. N-Acetylcysteine is a generically available supplement which has been demonstrated to increase intracellular reduced and total glutathione by 92% and 58% respectively.[23] <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glutathione#cite_note-22#cite_note-22> From: chu_hui_ping I know that Immunocal is a source of glutathione but at the moment I am keen to stay off dairy products for a while.
