Guest guest
Hi All: I have a few questions. It seems vitamin D is critical in fighting cancer and in its prevention. A month before my wife was diagnosed with ovarian cancer I took her to get her vitamin D level checked. It was 14. Anything below 30 is in the danger zone using the 25 hydroxy vitamin level test. We have since got it up and she is taking 10,000 units of vitamin D3 daily. Our alternate cancer doctor said he wants to see the vitamin D level at least up to 70 to 100. The old recommendation of 400 daily is outdated and it is now recommended that this be monitored by a blood test. The average person would need about 5,000 units per day. Because everyone is different the amount could be much greater or less. The average person should have a level of around 50. For fighting cancer the level should be higher. Our alternate cancer doctor also told us that my wife's blood type A is more susceptible to cancers. It seems that the immune system does not recognize cancer very well. By making a few diet changes and adding a few things to the diet this can be corrected. Fresh ginger root, brown rice, and several other things seem to allow the immune system to recognize the cancer and deal with it. One of the things to avoid was pork as this weakens the immune system. Of course sugar and certain grains as well. Our alternate doctor has a doctorate degree in nutrition and we asked him to look over a book we discovered, 4 diets for 4 blood types. He crossed out a few things, soy being one of them. He did mention that he was going to give us a diet for my wife's blood type, I guess we saved him some effort. Our alternate cancer doctor also said that my wife is not a true Blood type A as one of her parents was a blood type B. Because of this she can have beef twice per week. It is my understanding that following a diet for your blood type is of great benefit. I also do not hear much about probiotics being taken by cancer patients. This seems like it would be very important as much of the immune system is in the intestines. I know for a fact that chemo/ antibiotics destroys the good bacteria in the intestines and this should be replaced. We were told to take high quality probiotics three times daily both to replace the good bacteria but also as a detox from the chemo. My wife is also to take a prebiotic in the from of plant material fiber as food for the good bacteria. Dr. Mercola has a good probiotic and the doctor also recommend Primal Defense. It seem enzymes are important as well, any ideas here? Comments / ideas? Vic
