Re: Hypnosis in Cancer Treatment

Thanks for this interesting link.

Can I ask, has anyone here used hypnosis for any aspect of dealing with

cancer or its side effects?

I originally joined the group because I'm trying to support a friend

with breast cancer and was looking for advice on diet/supplements etc,

but I am currently training to be a hypnotherapist. I'm not giving up

my paid job, but I'd like to work free of charge with cancer sufferers

who couldn't otherwise afford to pay for hypnotherapy. And just

wondered if anyone here has used hypnotherapy, and what the results were?

Thanks.

Hi Mon,

Using Hypnotherapy to treat cancer would be wonderful since our thoughts effect

the way our cells act.

You're very generous to want to help people and especially those who really need

the help. I would be very interested but I doubt you live in Tucson. Blessings,

Hi

No, I'm actually in the UK - a long way from Tucson!

I'm a hospice volunteer, and for the past couple of years have been

leading group relaxation sessions with the patients. I knew the

patients benefited from them (in the form of pain relief and peace of

mind) at the time, but initially didn't realise the effects could last

for several hours afterwards. I'm very interested in the mind/body

connection, and am exploring different avenues of research such as the

Simonton Programme.

I know a lot of complementary therapists charge a lot of money, but I

really want to help those that cannot afford to pay.

Hypnosis, or 'Suggestion Acceptance' which is what it is, has always

demonstrated an influence on physical occurrences. I have a 'history' of

Hypnosis training going back to the late 50s. I never used it professionally

but did try to help a couple of friends with tension issues by helping them to

relax.

People have demonstrated that Hypnosis, which is really self induced with the

help of the Hypnotist, can seemingly make the body react to suggestions.

I would think its greatest asset with any ailment would be in teaching people to

relax at will and on the spur of the moment.

The problem one might run into is not knowing what we are dealing with. We

know we have Cancer when diagnosed but few would know the right approach to

address why, how and what to do about it using suggestion.

Hypnosis is only as good as the subject, the person being hypnotized or rather,

the person Hypnotizing themselves with the aid of a well-trained practitioner.

The subconscious mind can be full of information not readily accessible because

of many reasons. Whether or not one can convince cells or the

Immune/Eliminative system to react favorably would be an interesting approach.

Do not, however, make it the only effort made to overcome cancer.

If the practitioner is good and can teach his subject to relax at will, that

alone would be a benefit and for those that cannot fall asleep at night or wake

up during the night? One of the greatest means to overcome this problem.

That's about all I can or will bring to the discussion as it is going to have

limited use for this list. Those interested can seek help elsewhere but I

haven't the foggiest idea where.

I have a self-hypnosis CD  that is specifically to combat and get rid of

cancer.  I bought it from Winter --- an extremely knowledgeable and helpful

man in terms of supplements that work well together or not.  He gave me a ton of

information via email, without charging, and I decided to buy his CD after

that.  The jury is still out as to its effectiveness, but I know that it makes

me feel empowered, which can't be a bad thing.  He can be contacted at

There is so much out there about the mind/ body connection, Depak Chopra (among

others)wrote about how our thoughts effect our bodies at the cellular level. You

are a gift to all of those around you. Blessings,
