Guest guest
The T3, T4, TSH (and also the thyroid antibodies test, if they suspect you have a problem) can all be tested through a blood test and can be ordered by your regular MD. My husband and two sons just had these tests done. The others I do not know. Good luck. From: McCartney <katie.mccartney@...> Subject: [ ] Adrenal fatigue Date: Monday, December 1, 2008, 12:45 AM I'm trying to figure out if I have adrenal fatigue. I'm still in the process of getting my amalgams removed. I did the self-pupil test, and my pupils definitely flutter. I tried taking my temperature, but they're so inconsistent depending on how warm/cold I am. I heard/read about the 24-hour saliva test. Would this just measure your cortisol level? Do I need to have anything else checked? Can my regular MD order this test, or is there a special lab that I should use? I also don't know if my symptoms are thyroid-related, so I'll be getting free T3, T4, and TSH checked. Can my regular MD order these tests? TIA! Guest guest
> > > Does anyone know good natural cures for adrenal fatigue. > Thanks, Robyn Robyn, There is no fast and easy cure for adrenal fatigue. If you do some googling, you will find that the best thing you can do is eat a healthy diet and get plenty of sleep. There are some Chinese herbs that can help support the adrenals, but I found that they kept me awake so I had to stop taking them. This was under the direction of a naturopath. ar
Guest guest
Consuming more animal protein, getting plenty of psychological and physical rest. zinc, vit C, b5(Pantothenic acid) will also help but i do not know optimum dosages. remedies like licorice, cortex extracts or glandulars require expertise and may require expert help. best wishes cindi [ ] Adrenal fatigue Does anyone know good natural cures for adrenal fatigue. Guest guest
Hi Vicky, I am also Secondary and I am on Cortef 10mgs.@5am,5mgs@9am,5mgs@1pm,5mgs@6pm and 5mgs@ bedtime. Your labs show me your levels in my units are at 10 this is great it means your ACTH is not shut down your Adreanls are still making some Cortisol. My Dr. has me take my morning 10mgs dose of cortef then I go in at 8am and do labs fasting labs as long as my Cortisol levels show a levels last one I did 6 weeks ago was 12 this means being on 30 mgs / day tolal I am not shutting down my Adreanls they still work just need HC meds because I am Secondary my Pituitary dose not tell them to make enough Cortisol my morning levels were low for yrs between 6 to 12 when they should be at 25. Doing them lags your Dr. is smart and up on this you could go up to 40 mgs / day and still not shut down ACTH. I have done what chilln says but I don't feel it will help you or me come off HC meds or Thyroid and way are you off your Test C shots. Here is a link to a thread with a cut and paste of my first post. http://www.musclechatroom.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15633 ==================================================== Prog. or Preg? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I don't know if all you guys read about the dumb thing I did. I was on Life-Flo Preg. 15mg cream for 3 months my levels went from very low to 77 doing a Quest labs. When I ran out I was looking to see if Life-Flo sold a higher dose of Preg. I had a senor moment and got Prog. 20 mgs cream thinking it was Preg. I used this everyday for about 2 weeks. I was posting how this thinking it was Preg. was making me feel so great and all I think about now is sex even dream about it. On the Preg. cream my levels came up to 77 and my Prog. levels did not move still <0.5 range is <1.4 ng/mL. by JanZ this is low. So I am going to keep taking it I have some Preg. cream coming but I have a good 6 weeks of Prog. cream left. So what do you guys think about this so far I feel great on Prog. cream. I am 66 yrs old and my sex drive is like I was 20 my wife is telling me get a girl friend it was rock hard last night for over an hour fooling around with my wife and then having sex. Before this the longest I could keep it up was about 20 min.'s. __________________ Don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you see. Phil --------------------------------------------------- First thing chilln helped me with was my Problem with my Estraidol levels I do Test C shots 100 mgs every 3 days I eat it up as fast as I take it so doing this keeps my levels up. Helps keep my blood thinner and helps keep my Estradiol levels down. Still I need to take a lot of Arimidex everyday to keep my Estradiol levels down. Chilln told me at night with my low Cortisol levels my Test C shots were converting into Estradiol. So I started taking some Cortef at bedtime starting with 2.5 mgs then in a week going to 5mgs. Wow my Estaidol levels are now much less a problem I went from needing 1 mgs of Arimidex / day to .25 mgs / day. Then I started on the Preg. cream in the past I tried Preg. Pills and it drive up my Estradiol big time. Then Preg. cream dose not do this I was on this cream 4 weeks when I need to test my Testosterone levels the Preg. went up from very low to 74 then my next test in 6 more week I went up to 117 this is great the cream is working. I found the cream helped my Cortef HC meds last longer. Also it helped my Testosterone levels I am not eating it up so fast. Then the Prog. cream you read about his above I had to stop this cream 9 days a go my Estradiol levels were going up. I was getting sore and hard nipples and sweating feeling hot and looking red holding water. I understand doing the cream it stores in your fat and goes into your blood slow. This morning I would tell my libido is now falling back. I do labs next Tue so I am going to see how they look then go back on the Preg. cream if my Prog. levels came up. If not I have to see what my Dr. wants me to do. Last time I told him about his he said to finish the Prog. cream then do labs and go back on the Preg. cream his thinking is after Prog. comes up the Preg. will keep it up. Now back to " Hormones 101 " no I have not seen anyone on TRT and HC meds stop there HC meds some are working on this and plain to stop there TRT then there HC meds if all goes well. I feel what chilln is talking about is for people not yet on TRT or HC meds and it's for people that are not Secondary. Your Hypopituitary this means your brain is not going to send anymore ACTC to your Adreanls or LH to your testis then it was before you started treatment. But I feel much better doing the Preg. then Prog. cream but before you try this do labs. I don't know why you stopped TRT please post back to me why you did this. I am also a mod at a Thyroid forum where I help people with Adrenal Fatigue and Thyroid Problems. Here is a link to a FAQ's about Adreanls I helped make at the http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ web site when they had there forum up I was a mod there also this FAQ's is great every thing you need to know about this is in this link. http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ Please read this link to SAFE USES OF CORTISOL by McK. Read this link some of the best parts of his book are in this link it will put your mind at ease. http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/safe-uses/ Like I said I don't feel chilln's " Hormones 101 " will help us come off HC meds but then time will tell. If you need more just ask. Guest guest
Hi Phil, Thank you for your very comprehensive response. I did TRT for about 1 year before deciding to come off it because I still had issues with my overall health. At that time I was not on cortisol. After doing a low dose ACTH stimulation test (which is a more sensitive test if you secondary) it was clear that my adrenals were not producing enough cortisol due to the pituitary not releasing sufficient ACTH. Since the adrenal issues are life threatening, I decided to come off TRT and sort out the Adrenal issue first. Maybe at some later time I will go back to TRT. Phil, from what I've read I understand that you are currently doing 30mg of cortef and 15mg of pregnenolone and you are still no were near your morning cortisol target of 25. . Are you doing any DHEA? I also got issues with psorisis which has improved somewhat since being on cortisol. Keep up the good work. Thanks Vicky > > > From: vickydee32 <vickydee32@...> > > Subject: Adrenal Fatigue > > > > Date: Tuesday, December 28, 2010, 4:33 AM > > Hi, > > > > I am from South Africa and have been diagnosed with > > secondary adrenal fatigue and currently doing 20mg (10/5/5) > > corvocot(cortef equivalent) per day. Guest guest
Vicky, I feel you missing the point here when your on HC meds it will not show up on a morning fasting blood test when you test cortisol on HC meds it will show you if your on too much shutting down your Adreanls from working. So my Dr. runs this test after I take 10 mgs of Cortef HC in the morning about 6 am I then go do my labs at 8am as long as my cortiosl levels come back showing a level I am not over doing the dose of Cortef or shutting down my ACTH what little my Pituitary sends to my Adreanls. So my labs every 6 to 8 weeks show my morning fasting Cortisol levels at about what I first tested before going on Cortef 9 to 12. Also people like us can have low Aldosterone levels and this dumps our sodium big time making us feel dam bad. So I am on .1 mgs of Florinef with 1/2 a tsp full of good Sea Salt added to my water 3x's / day. You need to have this checked and if your testosterone levels are low you need to get on Testosterone now not later when you feel you have your Adrenals supported the longer you go with low Testosterone the more the stress of this is going to eat up your HC or Cortef meds. Even Dr. seen this happening to his men and started treating both at the same time and if ones thyroid is low he now treats this to. He feels if the 3 are bad and you only treat one the guy suffers. Taking cortef or HC meds at therapeutic dose's is very safe. Here are some links about low Aldosterone levels I was on HC meds not feeling much better until we tested this seen it was low and treated it. In this link it' all about being Hypopituitary. http://forums.realthyroidhelp.com/viewforum.php?f=12 & sid=00e91d54c66c0d75d2ae595\ fdd8a60a7 http://forums.realthyroidhelp.com/viewtopic.php?f=12 & t=15454 http://forums.realthyroidhelp.com/viewtopic.php?f=12 & t=15453 http://forums.realthyroidhelp.com/viewtopic.php?f=12 & t=15450 Some people have only a few hormone problems being Hypopituitary but you need to check them all. And try adding 1/4 to 1/2 a tsp full of good Sea Salt to a glass of water first thing in the morning see if this makes you feel better. Guest guest
I started on Preg. doing Life-Flo 15 mgs did this after testing both Preg. and Prog. after 12 weeks on Preg. my labs went from very low to 117. Then by accident I used Prog. cream by Life-Flo this Dr. has told men not to use it is a femanizing hormone. But I was using thinking it was Preg. Wow did this make me feel great and made my sex life like it was in my 20's. My labs for Prog. were <0.5 before trying the Preg. cream they never went up so this is why everyone and myself feel I did so good on it. I was doing this for 10 weeks then I started to have feelings of higher Estaraiol and stopped it 12 days ago. All ready I find my libido sliping back then one of the guys at Dr. 's told me I was on the women's prog. cream 20 mgs the mens is 10 mgs. I do labs next Tue and after them I will see if I am going back on the Preg. cream or if my labs are low for Prog. go back on the lower mens cream. http://www.iherb.com/Life-Flo-Health-Organic-Living-Pregnenolone-2-oz-57-g/15119\ ?at=0 And this is the mens Prog. cream. http://www.iherb.com/Life-Flo-Health-Progesta-Care-Body-Cream-Men-s-Formula-3-oz\ -85-g/9861?at=0 I think this one is to strong for men I am told using cream the hormoen stores in your fat and feeds your body slow. http://www.iherb.com/Life-Flo-Health-Progesta-Care-Body-Cream-4-oz-113-g/7236?at\ =0 Co-Moderator Phil > From: vickydee32 <vickydee32@...> > Subject: Re: Adrenal Fatigue > > Date: Thursday, December 30, 2010, 1:01 AM > Hi Phil, > thanks for the clarification, much appreciated. Guest guest
Thanks Phil, I tried to look up info on cortisol treatment and the fact if you on Cortef or equivalent, that it would NOT show up in the labs. Thats what you had clarified in your earlier response. Have you any info on this. Also I find that I'm putting on a lot of weight in the midrift area-could this be cortisol supplementation related?
